Interstate 70 in St. Louis will be closed between mile markers 249 and 251 from the evening of Oct. 7 through the morning of Oct. 10. Drivers should use I-170, I-270 and I-64/U.S. 40 as alternate routes.
The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to remove the Howard and 9th Street bridge over I-70 that weekend. Complete closure of the interstate will occur at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, and it will reopen at 5 a.m., Monday, Oct. 10, according to MoDOT.
MoDOT is closing the bridge as part of ongoing work to reroute I-70 over the Mississippi River.
Local traffic will still be able to get to and from St. Louis City during the upcoming lane closure, according to the agency.
