Don’t know what I coulda done, I matched up all the wires color by color on my new mic cord on a fairly new road king 56 microphone but when I plugged it in this morning to try it out, I got a horrible buzzing sound coming out of the radiothe mic wouldn’t transmit and there was no squelch static at all.
This is the cord I bought and after looking down at the Q and A section, somebody had asked if this cord will work with this microphone and somebody answered saying it will but they said they had to supposedly re-wire the plug-in because I guess some of the wires weren’t in the right spot or something so I guess I’ll have to look into that this weekend.
Also, I’m not sure if it matters but this microphone is the chrome one so it had the straight chrome cable on it and not the coiled one and after exposing the connections where the wires are soldered onto the plug, I noticed that the yellow wire wasn’t connected to anything if that matters. If it was once perhaps connected to something, I don’t know what but from what I could tell the yellow wire wasn’t used at all. Which by the way, I used my voltmeter to check continuity between the connections on the end of the plug and on the other end of the cable where the bare wires is and I had good continuity so I don’t know if the reason why my mic started to cut out was because of a bad cable or what. Whether the cord was bad or not, at least I got rid of that straight cord and put me a coiled one on there.
Thanks in advance for help.
