Went to het my DOT med card passed everthimg but my blood pressuer was high and only got my cars for 3 months to try to get my pressure down. Im about 60lbs over weight dont smoke but chew. My pressure was 160 over 100 need to get 8t down to the 140 over 90. Not on any blood pressure meds but have doctors app. to get started on them. Going ro start walking in morning and warch what i eat to get it down. I think some of it was angzitiy why it was high but still need to get it down.

many times, my BP was high, just walking into the clinic ..then i settled down..did they retest you about a few minutes later..??

next, LAY OFF the salts, and caffeine for a while.

try some simple walking for afew minutes each day, twice a day if you can.

watch your diet, DO NOT over eat, eat smaller portions.

prolly some more advice, but that's all i have for now.

even going into any doctors office, my BP is high...many reasons are, the long walk to get to the office, from the parking lot.

(it amounts to)"some exercise" ...prolly the most exercise i get...lol

as much the salt in your diet and sugar.

try working on breathing relaxation techniques too. Try some hitler/Gandhi (nose/mouth) breathing.

Go to the pharmacy and get yourself a blood pressure cuff so you can take your BP at night or in the morning once a day.

you're going to want to get on top of this sooner than later. Other wise 1 year cards will be the norm. And don't be afraid to fill that prescription.

Streets is the big thing with me, once I got out of my last job the stress was gone and my BP dropped. Yes, I know, its gonna go back up once I am on the road. :)

If it was just a little elevated, I would say do a 24 hour water fast, go in, and pass the test with flying colors.

Being as high as yours is, get the prescription and get started on it.

Don't depend on the prescription, though. Change the diet ASAP and work on the weight loss. Otherwise, the pills will simply mask a problem that is destined to get worse.

HBP is nothing to mess with. Change your habits to get it back under control or start taking the meds. HBP is the silent killer. Good luck.

yep a systolic of 160 is pretty high. I actually like the meds idea because losing the 60 lbs will take a while. 20 lbs over the next 6 months will help definitely but for every day the BP is high it causes damage so I like the doctor route...I'm biased....

I also had the 160/100 then 160/90 BP at Dr Office. 140lbs female 5'3. Had started Keto 4 months before hoping to bring down BP as it had started creeping up as middle age set in. I would love any info that would keep me off meds as they lead to forgetfulness.
