Have you ever been attacked before ?

I think I'd be figuring out a way to wire my tanks so that any unauthorized contact with the tanks will shock the living shit out of the thieves and hopefully fry their cordless drill.

But I'm just vindictive that way.

I use a motion sensor located at a chasis of a trailer lying on a tractor sadle above the fuel cap connected with loud sirene. At first when i get into that trouble, i try to start the engine to build up pressure and in meantime i carefuly inspect the situation. The thing is, batteries at EU trucks are located near the tanks and they are easy to access. Some thieves disconect the wires from batteries and then you can't even start the truck or unlock the doors or any other job that needs electric power. Then you are freaking helpless. Hopefully, our new Daf trucks have a night lock and auxiliary power unit independent of main batteries and Daf is the first EU truck to do that

Some good ideas, some not so good. Forget a knife except if you REALLY know how to use it. I bet most people don't know how to hold a knife in a fight. Not like you see in most movies. You hold it in your fist with the blade pointing down. That way you can stab, cut or punch as the opportunity arises. Better yet, avoid getting into knife range. Same goes for the loaded fist. That's too close. I know a former Army Ranger who told me once, "Knives don't bother me. I can take a knife away from anybody. What scares me is a guy with a baseball bat."
Its all about range. Keeping them away from you. If you look around you can find a nifty little collapsible baton that, when collapsed looks very innocent. But with a flick of your wrist turns into a very wicked weapon.
I used to use a retired sheriffs deputy as an oversize load escort. Before he was certified to carry pepper spray or a Tazer, he had to have them used on him so he understood what he was doing to others. He told me, "I'll take the Tazer any day over the Jesus juice" (one spray and they come to Jesus). "When they shut the Taser off, its over. The spray never seems to quit burning."
Word up.

I know how to hold a knife and it is the exact opposite of the way one would use a knife to cut bread. If i am holding it, The blade is coming from the palm of my hand.
Pulling a blade would be my last resort.

We all have to face the fact we're not Steven Seagal. That's why a dog can come in handy. Mine did a couple'a times.

Regarding knives, there are more methods than one to effectively use it defensively without getting it taken away. The biggest key is not cutting yourself in the process.

That said, my first and most powerful defense is to avoid being a victim. That was addressed above, so no need to flail that pony again.

Get yourself some pepper spray. This one has an 18' range. Order off Amazon or any other mail order store.

I used to have the friendliest little Jack Russell Terrier (except when he got old and my son started walking and pulling on him, and he had to go away :(...)

But there were more than a few times in places like NYC, Philly, etc. where I'd be driving around with the window wide open (cuz I was a badass downtown big rig driver and weren't scared of nothin and knew my way around) and various types of people would see themselves onto my step offering to sell -directions, labor, gold, "help" or whatever...

"Eeeyyyy maan you know where you goin down there? Its get pretty tight...lemme climb up and I'll WOAH....doggie in da face...neva mind mang...."

IMMEDIATELY Simon (the dog) would come from whereever he was in the truck and jump into my lap to meet the new friend. He was so ferocious he'd probably lick you to death...unless you got near his dish. That he didn't like.

A 12 pound rambunctious rat hunter scared off 170+ ne'er do wells all the time.

Never forget it.

You will never never never ever eeeeveeer make me understand this practice.

Did they shoot him with his gun first too?

Tazers and sprays are simply tools to stop some dumbass from doing harm to the officer or some innocent, and by using one of these tools, you succeed in stopping the dumbass without killing him.

The officer should be receiving gratitude from the perp, not getting tazed by his own team.

The retired sheriff as an escort part worries me.

Because of this.

BTW...if anyones noticed...I'm on a tear the last few days...moving threads and pimpin my own writings....WHICH YOU SHOULD ALL READ.

Seriously....there's other content on this forum/website, and @Mike gets upset when you guys don't click on all of it.

Ahem...allow me. I'm sure you're all tapped out from working the the rain and swinging doors and counting whose diapers and feminine hygiene products go where...

See I'm here to help!

Besides ya jackwagon, there's articles other people have written in that section.

I have a 1.5 million volt stun gun that carries very nicely in a belt pouch. It looks like a cell phone and I carry it everywhere. Nobody has ever noticed what it is or asked about it, and I go everywhere with it. I only brandished it one time in the last five years at the Petro in Knoxville (I-40) when two apparent crack-heads walked up to me at 3am asking for a cigarette. I told them I don't smoke, and they pulled out a cigg and asked for a light. I pulled out the stun gun, pulled the trigger and let it ark for a few seconds and they ran like the wind! I would guess I got the $89 cost paid back that night, because they were sizing me up to see I was a good target.

Why'd they run? That electric arc could surely light a cigarette.
