Favorite AC\DC song.

Sinister

EVERYONE taps their toe to at least ONE AC\DC song.

Some of the most popular are:

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

You Shook Me All Night Long

Back In Black

Who Made Who

Moneytalks

etc....

Anyway, this thread is to be reserved for AC\DC songs and discussion only. I want to know your favorite "Thunder from down under" tune. I don't want to hear what you'd rather listen to. This thread is for one band only...please respect that. I'll bitch and complain and report any post that I think is off topic. Since I don't help run the place any more, that's all I can do is whine...lmao....

Anyway:

Did you like Bon or Brian better?

Did you notice changes when other artists changed, like Phil Rudd/Simon Wright/Chris Slade...etc.

Which song from each singer?

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THEM LIVE? (you would not regret it...even with Angus being almost 60 now)...I have twice. You've never seen anything like all of Madison Square Garden rocking out, then meeting those same fans on the street later in NYC. It's awesome. Or cheering Angus on for the strip tease act during The Jack (don't ask...it's tradition). Or the cannons at the end in "For Those About To Rock". They've deafened me twice. Or the huge blow up balloon they use in "Whole Lotta Rosie".

Given the recent upswing in popularity, largely due to marketing and the Iron Man movies, do you still think this band is relevant in the world of Rock n' Roll. (I'll have you know that the Black Ice tour sold out almost worldwide, the whole time...so don't talk ****.)

Favorite Bon Scott song:

Favorite Brian song:

No, I never really noticed any differences when they changed drummers. Everything the record is so simplistic, and easy to play that they could have recruited a ton of people.

I have seen them live TWICE:

1- in 1990, on the Razors Edge Tour, just before they went overseas. It was awesome. LA Guns opened and they were terrible. Feedback, interference, they just sucked. Then the sound crews changed, and the stage chaged shape in the dark, and AC\DC came on and the opening song was Shoot to Thrill. Angus hopped around like a freak the entire time. During "Moneytalks" TONS of AC\DC dollar bills fell from the ceiling. I grabbed none. I was in the nosebleeds.

18 years later, I saw them again at MSG in NYC. This time, instead of a drive to a train, I drove to a plane, then to a train, then walked to see them. 18 years later, the show was just as great...though Angus doesn't quite hop around as much as he used to. The Rosie balloon was great, the cannon were great, the crowd was great...it might have been better the second time.

At the start of Hells Bells, Brian nailed the bell on time, every time, at both concerts.

I think this band is relevant in Rock N Roll simply because they've got such staying power. They've been around for longer than many bands who are considered pioneers of rock and roll. The Beatles influenced everything. EVERYTHING. But they never had the marketing power this band does, and could never get their presence known over an almost 40 year period like this band can. I'm NOT saying these guys are great than the Fab 4. What I'm sayiing is they've got better advertising, better producers (the guy who bones Shania Twain...helllooooo) and can project 40 year old music to a totally new audience like older bands never could.

Everything the do sounds the same. But, they've never been like say...Metallica...where they make a few ****TY albums...then have to "reinvent" themselves. And fail. Twice.

AC\DC just does what they do...take it or leave it.

I'll take it.

Powerage.....the whole album is my favorite song. What's next to the moon.Riff Raff.Down Payment Blues.Kicked in the Teeth.Ear Candy.........

They're all excellent songs but I would say Highway To Hell is my favorite.Think i'll watch these guys again tonight.I remember back in the 80s going to the bar and dancing to AC/DC..I dated a guy who was the lead guitar in a band and they were'nt too bad when they played some AC/DC.

I have the DVD Boxed set called "Plug Me In". Its awesome. It's neat watching the band progress through their various gimmicks over the years. There's a video from 76 or so for Let There Be Rock which has such bad lip synching it's hilarious. And Angus was wearing a choirboy dress, not a schoolboy outfit.

I have one of their first DVD titled family jewels. When they were kids just starting out.Shame the lead singer died I think from a car wreck I can't remember. The singer now is good though.AC/DC is my favorite group and always will be.Their music will never die.

I hope my links work correctly. I am posting via my dumb BlondeBerry. Ugh! This upgraded BB was not the upgrade I'd hope it would be. Grrrr!

I thought both concerts were awesome!

I like a lot of rare tunes also. I'm not sure why a lot of these weren't included on larger selling albums where certain songs repeat themselves.

I like all of the AC/DC stuff, but like the Bon Scott era best.

"Whole Lotta Rosie" 42, 39, 56, you can say she's got it all.

And then Bob Rivers did a parody of at least one of the songs. Highway to Bellevue. Bellevue is across Lake Washington from Seattle, and is where the wine and cheese crowd hangs out.

I like Bon too, and one of the things that struck me the first time I saw them live was how well Brian Johnson does Bon's songs. I'd never heard them sang by Brian before. They really did well replacing Bon.

I really wish itunes and them would work a deal. I can barely even sync my CD's through iTunes. I think it's because of the deal with Wal Mart.

Another almost totally forgotten album where the blues influence is undeniable is Stiff Upper Lip. It's got some filler songs on it, but theres solme really good ones too. Ballbreaker was pretty bad.

I used the second verse to Highway to Hell for my "senior quote" in my senior year yearbook in high school. Only, I had a friend write it in for me.

"No more stop signs, speed limits.
Nobody's gonna slow me down.
Like a wheel, gonna spin it,
NOBODY gonna mess me 'round."

And that's all I wanted printed. But my buddy wrote the whole thing (I was probably groping some female at the time...) and he put the rest of the verse in.

"Hey Satan, payin' my dues
playin' in a rockin band!
Hay Mama, look at me,
I'm on my way to the promised land
I'm on the Highway to Hell."

...the first part looks like a great senior quote about how you're going to handle your life from there on out. The rest makes you look like a loser.

I really wish I wasn't trying to put my hand up that girls skirt when I delegated that particular duty...

Mine was "I got one life to live and I'm going to live it up" by Priest

I liked AC/DC when I was maybe 14 or 15. Then after about the 30,000th time I heard an AC/DC song on the radio now I can't stand them.
