failed pre employment drug test

Perhaps my "Virgin Mentality" shows itself here but as far as I'm concerned anyone who dabbles / deals in Drugs deserves to have every Door Shut in His / Her Face...during my time in Correctional I saw the results of Drug abuse from it's early stages to Deaths Door and it ain't a pretty sight...Youngsters with their whole lives ahead of them cut short...Sorry Hayu552 but you get no Sympathy from me...If your old enough to Drive then you ought to be old enough to know the Responsibility that comes with it and if you don't then the Trucking Industry is better off without you...

Not what you wanted to hear but be realistic...would you Hire a Drug user to Drive a Monster Machine...I would not either...

Im going to have to agree with you when you said they deserve to have every door shut in their face.People doing drugs then quitting for a short time hoping to pass a drug test really does'nt deserve a second chance. My opinion tells me they're not sincere about staying clean.

you Morons just proved my point truck drivers are STUPID!!!!!
it was a PRE EMPLOYMENT the company he applied at was not his employer, he did not sign a release form.
the piece of shit company (he did not work for) had no business putting his PRIVATE
INFORMATION OUT THERE
PERIOD!!

waaaaaaa.......

what exactly did they "put out there"?

That you failed a pre-employment drug test?

Waaaaa......

you should have gotten a letter from the MRO as to what was needed or what happened. It will prescribe pretty well what you need to do.

What you are realizing is that most people in this industry have no love for dopers. So when you bring your pot-head problems in here, you are likely to get more flack than help.

You know you have to drug test to drive. The solution is easy. DON'T DO DRUGS.

"Would you like the hot apple pie....."

I apologize for being sarcastic.

Drugs are fine, there are countries out there that even cater to such.

Just not the U S trucking industry.
You say this to a bunch of people who are making a career driving an 80,000 lb weapon down the road. Then the next comment is "we are self riteous" because we take that responsibility seriously. I'm no prude. I smoked pot when I was younger. But in a career such as this, those things are no longer an option. I have NO problem with what people do on their free/home time. Just leave it there and prepare to suffer the consequences if you wreck and they find any trace of drugs in your system. Is a prison term really worth smoking a joint? I'm not even saying that because you smoked a joint last week or 3 days ago or even a day ago is the reason you killed someone. Only that it is in your system and once they find it, guess what? That's the reason you wrecked. Screwed for life.

Anybody with half a brain knows companies give a drug test before coming onboard. You fail a drug test you lose and every potential employer has a right to know.

Really? We're stupid because we take our jobs seriously?

I think anyone who thinks he can pursue a job in a safety-sensitive industry and not expect there to be a drug test, shouldn't be allowed outside unsupervised. It reflects a severe lack of judgement & common sense & I wouldn't put it past such a person to run out into the street while chasing a butterfly.

You came on here asking a simple question about what happens when you fail a pre-employment drug test. You got some accurate & honest replies, and also a few replies reflecting the views the average trucker has towards the issue.

In the real life word of trucking, we don't smoke weed or do meth or coke or whatever it was "he" tested positive for. This industry is more heavily regulated than commercial airline pilots, believe it or not, and there is no room out here for recreational drug users or people who don't take safety seriously enough to even consider the possibility that there may be a drug test.

Based on your reaction to reading all the responses which weren't sugar-coated to your liking, the only advice I have for you and this person who failed the whiz quiz, is to speak slowly and clearly into the headset so the people in the drive-thru can understand you.

In regards to your last sentence, more and more fast food restraurants are giving drug tests. The op can't face the truth like many others that ask questions about drug test. Then the op mentioned this guy didn't sign a release form, well then don't take the test and not get hired if that's how he feels about drug test.Who knows he may have signed one when filling out the application and faxed it back or electronically sign it on line.If the op feels truckers are morons and stupid then why come to a truckers forum.

Actually, in order to be sent in for a drug test, the subject must have at least a tentative hire. In other words, he or she has been hired and will keep the job upon passing the drug test.

The company has to order the test. They won't do that unless they have the subject's full information and believe they will place the subject into a position with the company. They don't drug test every applicant. Only the people they intend to put to work.

"Pre-employment" is kind of misleading. The subject was hired, then immediately fired after failing. So yes, this failure can and most likely will follow the subject.

This person that failed the drug test obviously hasn't been in this profession long.Anyone knows a company will give the ppl a pre employment drug test and wait for the results or you don't drive unless they wanna break the law.Swift won't hire anyone till they complete the entire orientation process.Problem is ppl don't read the fine print on websites and recruiters won't tell them either so that's where it can be misleading for the new folks joining the industry.

Baloney.

Problem is a lack of common sense. Common sense would indicate the requirement to complete orientation, which, in Swift's case, includes a physical and drugs test. Has nothing to do with recruiters lying or ambiguous websites.

In fact, I believe both Swift and Prime spell it out in their hiring requirements. Most companies have a list of requirements that includes "Must be able to pass a DOT drug test." Hell, even small companies list that in their job postings.

If somebody applies to a company that has this listed as a requirement (along with age restriction, driving/criminal record, necessary endorsements, etc) and doesn't pass the test, it's not on the recruiter.

What I am saying is recruiters leave a lot of things out upon getting pre hired and then the driver mainly new drivers get disqualified.I on the other hand know the drill but does new drivers,no they do not they learn the hard way.You also said in a previous post the subject was hired then fired after failing the test,he was not hired, you must successfully complete orientation first which includes the pre employment drug test and heres where recruiters come into play, they don't tell the applicants they're pre hired. They send them bus ticket and hotel info what they need to bring ect ect.

Go read the regulation.

What @Injun posted reads almost verbatim to what the regs say.

You won't get a drug test unless you are given the position......

Contingent on passing the drug test.

Legally, you are hired at that point you agree to the drug test.
