Eyesight!

About 10 years ago, I noticed that my eyes were really bothering me especially if I had been online for a couple hours. So off to the eye doctors I went to get a prescription for glasses due to eyestrain. The doc said he had been seeing a lot of that lately due to heavy computer use. I didn't have to wear my glasses all the time, just when I used the computer. Well 8 years later I found that I needed those glasses in order to read the small print when shopping or reading the newspaper. Well now I have to wear glasses all the time because my eyes just don't see anything tiny up close. This morning when I woke up I couldn't see out of my left eye for anything. Nothing would focus. So now I have another pair of glasses. But I bought some bug spray to keep mosquitoes off, and darned if I didn't spray that crap right in my left eye just a few minutes ago. I guess I should have kept my glasses on when I was spraying myself.

My mom had cataract surgury about 2 years ago. She also had something happen to one of her eyes where she saw what looked like a spiderweb all the time. She got all that taken care of.

Lasik is getting more and more affordable these days. I know someone who had it done approximately three years ago and still has perfect vision.

I had the old fashioned RK 18 years ago. I am just now beginning to use reading glasses occasionally. My distance vision is good.

My stepdad had the surgery a few years ago. Unfortunately, regardless of why one might need vision correction, most of us will need reading glasses as a normal part of aging, even with Lasik surgery (unless they have been able to allow for that since he had his).

Midwestbound, I have read that wearing your glasses while slicing onions also helps keep the tears away.

LOL,I used to pass my exits,Seeing the sign only at the last minute. What a PIA when running steady Chicago . A company I worked for required eye tests, They said I needed glasses. I promptly got my glasses made .I have been wearing glasses for about ten years now and I get my eyes checked every two years. I need to get them checked again soon. I would rather wear the glasses ( personal choice) because I know a guy that had laser surgery and it went bad, He can't see out of one eye. I'm sure thats a rare case and he had an astigmatism .

My eyesite is getting worse and really would like to do the lasik deal. won't wear contacts, don't like anything near my eyes and don't want to wear glasses. Lasik makes me nervous as i just can't stand anything near my eyes, don't even like my own fingers near them. (i know where they've been). LOL. Went and updated my DOT card yesterday, nervous a little about the eye test but they said eye sight was good. funny how much i learned about myself there. found out i'm 71 inches tall, 188 and my bp is 130 over 80. and i could hear all 4 of those stupid tones they made me listen to. LOL

I've been wearing glasses since I was 12. Maybe just because I've had them so long, they really don't bother me. Eye surgery is not a perfect science, and I won't take the risk no matter how small.
