Exciting RAM 1500 power - EcoDiesel! Anybody Care?

My 1st and only P/U was a used 2009 4.6L F-150 4wd with towing package with 90,000 miles. Felt brand new. I still marvel at the strength and intelligence of that vehicle. So incredibly well engineered and built. America Does Pickup Trucks Right!

Back to the Fiat... if it's well designed with balance, strength and longevity in mind and is built well.... and is geared properly to remain in it's power range... it'll last as long as any.

it would be interesting to see how the new ram holds up compared to the old ones that you couldn't kill!! and if there not using fiat engines id'e think ide run from em since fiat was over here before and they was crap. another interesting is Nissan frontier is supposed to get a cummins in the frontier I think.

Remember when Renault tried selling those "Le Car" things over here? I was only 5 years old & I was pointing & laughing at those stupid things.

It's the Titan that's possibly getting a 5L cummins, as well as maybe the tundra in 2016

Jeep going in for service gave me the opportunity to see my first Laramie 1500 with an EcoDiesel! This apparently is a Fiat V6 turbo, 3-liter mated with an 8-speed auto. I just took it for a test drive and I wish I were a Salesman. I would sell thousands of these puppies. What a truck! What a drivetrain. Good power, pickup, torque. 23 mpg.

Why has it taken 30yrs for the American P/U to arrive here? So natural. So good. So right.

You mean the Italian pickup? Other countries have much better diesels than we do in the cars and personal trucks. I knew when the word Dodge came off the Ram series something was up. Then I found this. I wonder how long before Fiat starts rebranding in the US!

it's not that they have better diesels, it's they have better diesel which means the engines can be tighter, closer tolerances and more sophisticated.

You know why they put Le Car on the side of it with those big-azz letters????

So Le Frenchman wouldn't accidentally take Le Lawnmower to work in the morning.

Actually I think it's because of US emissions crap.

Not trying to go too far off topic, ... but I'm damn freakin' impressed with my little Ford Ranger pickup. I've mentioned it about a gazillion times on here, ...

I've done LOTS of towing with it. The heaviest I ever towed with it was my 1976 F-100 pickup which obviously weighs more than the Ranger itself. It was scary because of rear-end stability & near useless brakes, but as far as GO power, it was fine. I didn't romp on it either.

It's a 5 speed Mazda trans bolted to a 2.9 liter V6.

Then I found out on a Ford Ranger forum that one of the other forum members bought a Ranger when he was in Kuwait or something & it had a 2.9 liter diesel. Now I'm mad because I want a 2.9 liter diesel in mine too. I bet it's even better at towing (for it's size) than my 2.9L gasser. But I can't. The guy looked into shipping his diesel ranger to the USA and found out it's illegal. The USA won't allow it. He'd have to take it apart & ship it in pieces & re-assemble it here, and then take the VIN number off an American ranger to use so he can register it. And then it would still be illegal, although in most states he could get away with it.
