I hear ya. I had one in the base of my thumb, and although the doctor did an excellent job, the pain was just not worth the temporary fix. Shots usually don't bother me much but it seemed to last forever as the needle went deeper and deeper. I finally yelled out "Shiiiit!" after holding back as long as I could take it. Then, after embarrassing myself, said "Oops you made the bad Cathy come out". The doctor just smiled and said "I knew I would if I hung out in there long enough". From there it only got worse. I had intense pain in my whole arm for about an hour and it was so bad I could barely drive myself home. The same day, I also got an injection in my knee but it was no problem at all. He prescribed a fifty dollar ointment for the pain, which my insurance did not cover.
