cars can regen on the fly you figure trucks can tooOn my trip to Livonia MI this week, my DEf system took a fit. Normally, the truck does a "parked regen" about once a day. Started doing it every time I hit idle. Then light started going on... the "electronic fault" lightning bolt, the "filter full" light, the "do a park regen now" message. Stopped and hit the regen switch.... no reaction.
Houston shop says "drive it and deliver". Ok.
Made it there and back with only 1 "derate" (on a hill on I-71 of course).... but went through DEF like I had a hole in the tank. Used up 3 tankfulls. Normal for that run is less than 1/2 a tank.
Oh, fuel milage was 4.5 mpg for most of the trip.
Gawd, I'm happy I don't own this POS.
You'd ruin the system, it would cost over $5K to repair, not covered by warranty and, if a company truck, you'd be fired if you're lucky.what if you just put water in the DEF tank?
well, I severely dislike def. I hope I never have to use it.You'd ruin the system, it would cost over $5K to repair, not covered by warranty and, if a company truck, you'd be fired if you're lucky.
You have three choices at the moment: Keep your current truck running. Buy a pre-2010 truck. Buy a glider kit truck.well, I severely dislike def. I hope I never have to use it.

I know right.Cars went through this in the 80's,
cuz not enough of us hand them a plain white envelope....Our lawmakers have the power to stop this madness. After all, they (supposedly) work for us.
So why haven't they?
