Talking with my daughter today....

The kid's step dad is in surgery at the moment receiving a double lung transplant. He suffers from a genetic disorder called alpha - 1. Something like that.


The only treatment right now is a new pair of lungs.


Someone made a conscious decision in their life to be a donor so that he could receive this precious gift in another families loss.


So please consider becoming an organ donor. There is a family in Minnesota who is very grateful for that gift.

I donate blood, I'm on the marrow donor list, and an organ donor.

My wife has a 10 gallon pin around here somewhere.
Man, did she struggle through some rough times giving blood [no pun intended ]...
low iron and whatnot.

I donated a couple of times when a window of opportunity presented itself.
Most of the time though they kept rolling back the criteria.

I got a call for marrow donation once years ago...
perfect match for a little girl with leukemia...
back before the cure was as (relatively) simple as it is these days.

I tried to become an organ donor once. They told me it would cost me $300,000. Say what now? Well pipe organs ain't cheap. I gave them a harmonica and told em to play loud.

BTW, does anybody but me remember a group called the "Harmonicats"?
