Confirmed: E-logs suck

The last time I was there, I could swear it was Excel or Cargill. When did IBP (Tyson) buy them out? Or is there more than one packing plant in Beardstown?

I believe Tyson bought them out but hasn't converted the operation over just yet. I'm not positive though since I make every effort to avoid that crappy town at all times except for high school football games.

What's so crappy about it? Looking at satellite images of the area, it looks like a cool place to live if you have a boat.

What do you do when you are trying to get them to take their shit off your truck? I have an idea of what an independent could/would do. But I would rather hear it from you.

I have never had that problem...I pull in and they unload me as soon as the load is untied.

Nah Ducky....I have never been one to raise hell at a customer location.
I've seen lots of guys throw tantrums and act like assholes at shippers and receivers, but it usually just results in me getting unloaded before them.

@GroceryHauler I don't run for Prime anymore. It's not likely I'll be picking up in Beardstown again. At least, not at the pig plant.

But there was a cool little cafe I used to go to when I was there. And the pig plant has showers in the bathrooms.

Delivered a load of cardboard boxes to a pig plant once. Somewhere in Texas, I think, but I don't remember for sure. Anyway, it was summer and they had the windows open. I was outside doing a drop and hook, and I could hear the pigs squeal with assembly-line precision. Every few seconds there would be another one. I got out of there ASAP.

I like meat, and my body likes meat. I tried being a vegan for several months and I was simply too sick to continue. But I don't want any part of the butchering process. Call me an ostrich- I admit it, I'll stick my head in the sand any day. If it's unpleasant, I want no part of it. Period. I never went back to any meat processing plant again.

I left there, went over to the truck stop, and called Laurie (my girlfriend at the time) on the phone. I told her about it and asked, "how can anyone stand to work there?" She just said, "I don't know." I don't know, either.

I take it you have never prepared your own food. No shame in that.

I grew up cleaning my own food from rabbits, snake, deer, cow, pig, chicken( though I do not eat buzzards anymore), elk, bear....

With that said I do not like being around the kill lines myself. I can slaughter any animal myself, but watching a machine do it bothers me.

what I hate about elogs is when you get yourload assignment you get ready to drive log your pretrip and start your q1r4 hours then your load changes and dont load till later now you have a started 14 hour clock and no way to stop it. It has happened to me a few times

Considering he signed into law the Commercial Vehicle Safety Act to prevent drivers from shopping for a new license after they had burned the old one breaking the laws, I would say no problem what so ever.

:rolllaugh3:

Apples & oranges.

Why it was a program to make sure those who violated the law were punished.

Further he signed into law the Surface Transportation Act which (brace yourself) raised fuel taxes:throwfit: It also provided the avenue for drivers to report employers for operating outside of Federal Regulations.

Reagan understood government does have some roles to play, like funding, building, and enforcing use of public roads.

Why it was a program to make sure those who violated the law were punished.
It wasn't a program to watch & monitor EVERYONE, just to make sure they don't violate the law, even those who have no history of violating the law.

Like I said, apples & oranges.

Everyone is not monitored Duck. Only those seeking the privilege of operating commercial motor vehicles on public highways. But I begin to see the flaw in your contradiction.

So, .... seeking the "privilege" of having a job is a crime in itself, therefore we should be forced to give up our 4th amendment rights, by your logic.

So, ... let's say they want to pass a law that says that anybody who "chooses" to operate a commercial motor vehicle on public roads must install cameras in the sleeper berth to make sure you're not inviting lot lizards into the truck. Would you defend that bill by saying it's perfectly acceptable because you can CHOOSE to quit your job & go work at ****ing Walmart stocking shelves for $8/hr?

With my company's system, we're allowed to edit everything except driving time. So in that case, I'd just edit & change that time shown for the pre-trip as "off duty" or "sleeper".

Some companies don't let their drivers edit ANYTHING though. And eventually the feds will make it so nobody can.

Seeking the privilege is not a crime. And ensuring compliance with existing HOS regulations is no more a 4th am violation than a log book. They are both calling for exactly the same information. People have become comfortable about lying in a log book, but there should be no difference between what is written in pen (or pencil) and what is recorded electronically.

Since there is no FMCSR regarding lot lizards yes I would oppose it, as well as oppose enacting any internal monitoring of any commercial vehicle by cameras. I oppose the mandate of compliance recorders on CPAP machines. I'll give you a shock I oppose monetary fines for non-compliance. Nope don't believe in them. Straight suspensions of privilege would do more to exonerate the myth of being about revenue, and actually remove bad drivers.

Yes people can choose what ever career they wish. There may come a time I move to another job. Hell I took this one because of government interference in my old one. I doubt I would end up stocking shelves, my next plan still involves a mobile restaurant of some sort.
