Same. I decided to park regardless. The older I get and the more independent I get, the more risk averse I get.

I had my own chain laws,
when it was bad enough that I had need of chains it was too damn bad to be driving!
I still have chains I bought 25 years ago, only one set was ever put onto a tire for five minutes to make sure they fit and I knew how to put them on, the rest are brand new, the bags have long ago rotted away but the are still shiny and sitting in a corner of the shop

One company that I worked for would load a set of chains in the trailer if you were going through CO. We were told not to put them on just park the truck but we had them because CO. requires you to have them.

This is my way of doing things as well. When the time of year comes, I grab the autosocks and toss them in the truck. Not planning on ever taking them out of their new packaging, but it keeps me from getting fined for not having them.

One company I was at thought like that and wouldn't get chains. They learned about that when another truck spun out in front of me and got the bill for a pull up on the Coq. Socks haven't been legal in BC for a few years now because of people like them and they're basically useless on any incline. I'm not sure about the states.

Autosocks are legal everywhere here. Most that use them like them better than chains.

Cable chains are lighter but some states don't allow cable chains to count for the required equipment

You can carry them as extras though

Since California seems to be the tail that wags the dog, here's how it's done there. Notice that one can use cable chains, textile snow chains. But right after chains other than actual chains might not be permitted beyond the chain control points.

I refuse to work when it's below 62°F and above 74°F and humidity above 32%.

I knew I would get my ass handed to me with that one. What I was trying to convey is the way Kommiefornia has certain ways they want you to chain up. By the time you get that stuff on, the spring thaw is going on.

Hell, I don't even like it below 74F and I'm sure I never experienced humidity under 50% here.
And where did you find the abilities to use superscript for the degrees sign? I don't see it anywhere, even under the options for each section.

There's a special character keypad built into Windows and certain keystrokes do the symbols but I forget how to access either one.
