Can a non professional driver, regular traveler, take a shower at a truck stop?

So, I’m in Portland and budget restrictions are preventing me from the luxury of renting a hotel room for the divine pleasure of a shower. Will a truck stop let a chick in a sedan buy a shower? Any and all advice would be very appreciated. I have all my own toiletries and towels and flip-flops. I just need hot water in a hopefully clean facility.

Sure you can buy a shower. Your money is as green as everyone else's. 👍

I asked that question too years ago.

I use to do this all the time long before I started driving professionally when I would travel and basically sleep in my car.

Those showers are basically first come first serve. The coupons and discounts we get does not give us preeminence over auto motorist wanting to take a shower.

Thats also why many places are now called Travel Centers instead of Truck stops emphasizing they cater to all motorist.

Just go up to the fuel desk, and ask for a shower. When they ask for a rewards card, tell them you're paying cash. Most places want $15. They'll give you a key. Towels are in the shower. Return the key to the fuel desk when you're done.

That was undoubtedly one of the best things I have ever done. The hot water was abundant and scorching, no one was knocking on the door rushing me, it was glorious.
Thank you for allowing me to infiltrate. I promise, I didn’t vandalize or steal anything, but it totally smelled girly in there when I left, after applications of lotions, hair sprays, perfumes, etc. It was a $15 well spent and all the people working were lovely as well and they came over to say “hello” before I left. Faith in humanity and fractured spirit are restored. And I promise, I’m always the person that lets you guys over when you need to change lanes and no one will let you in.:D

if i recall, at one time, there was at least a 30 minute time limit.

just for future information, bring your own towels, shower slippers or flip flops (don;t walk bare foot at any time) and try NOT to sit on anything.

I had my own towels and washcloths, and shower sandals. I don’t think I sat down the whole time I was in there. I DID, however, consider taking another shower once I was dressed just so I could repeat the entire experience. ;) I’m gonna guess whole thing was 45 minutes, they were very reassuring with me about taking as much time as I needed, which was lovely. And it wasn’t busy, which I’m sure helped. They kept paging that there wasn’t a wait at the showers, it was one of the things that bolstered my confidence enough to even ask.
I travel pretty much ready for anything life is gonna throw at me, and sometimes....it’s a hell of a lot. Your advice is great though, you ALL have been wonderful. ❤️❤️❤️

Trust me, I'd much rather have it smell girly than the alternative! Reminds me of home that way.

And y'all crack me up with the shower shoes! I bet y'all wear socks with sandals, too. 😂

A girly smelling bathroom/shower isn't exactly the worst thing in the world. We need more of that, TBH.

Total overkill. Flip flops yes the rest? 🙄🙄🙄
you canot be 100% certain the shower towels are actually washed, or just put into the drier.

i'd never sit down on anything in a shower room, as you do not know what the other driver "left behind"....crabs, gonorrhea, feces pieces, etc, etc.

i personally had witnessed a shower attendant at a southern trucks top wash the floors with blackend water, and then use that very same mop and water to wash out the shower stall....

you wanna chance the shower towels were really washed, and not just dried??

when you witness what i have over the years, you don;t take too many chances.

In today’s sew happy society.

All those infectious things you list can’t live without body heat. And you have 0 worry of catching them from the toilet seat. You get more feces pieces from the hand driers than the seats. And dried sanitizes them. I’m not concerned when they are still damp.

well ok buddy, go ahead and sit on any chair or bench in the shower room, or lean up against the wall....

tell me after the 46th penicillin shot, how your ass feels....

and it's..SUE HAPPY...NOT SEW......we ain't here to learn how to sew, knit, or crotchet....

Two things. I don’t sit on benches I’m not lazy.

So you sue someone but when it’s active your sewing them. But a needle and thread make you sew not so
