I’ve had dispatchers like this, but unlike this guy I tell them to F off when they instruct me to do something dangerous.

Semi-truck hauling red dye leaks liquid for miles through Portland area, splashing other vehicles

A tractor trailer hauling a red dye leaked the liquid for miles on I-205 and I-84 throughout two counties near Portland on Saturday night, staining roadways and vehicles.

The driver, 40-year-old Junior Jean, told deputies the liquid was used to dye mulch, according to authorities. Deputies said Jean also claimed to have stopped to inspect the leak when another driver flagged him, but his company had told him to continue driving to his destination.

How the hell can they add reckless driving? Whoever added that charge should be disbarred.

I've had a few loads of pork that were leaking a water/blood mixture. Was that reckless driving?

Also, maybe the dispatcher didn't have a full understanding of the extent of the leak. He might've thought the driver was simply reporting damaged cargo, a few drops coming out, seeing as how this is a dry van company. A tanker company dispatcher would know better, I hope.

If you were to stain police cars with it then yeah probably so.

I’m driving a gas tanker now, never had a leak but I’ve been told to do unsafe things and I’ve told them I won’t do it. Which is why I’m looking for another job as it’s gotten quite hostile since then.

I’ve had pipe start leaking on an anhydrous tanker I drove years ago.

“Pop the fire valve, get the truck unloaded and get it to the repair shop.”

No problem boss. Consider it done.

A 4”X8’ pipe still holds a LOT of product. Enough to catch a troopers attention 20 miles later.

So for me, there’s WAY more to this story than what’s being reported…

Like when my truck broke down in Nebraska due to DPF issues that I asked the shop to fix before I headed out.
I didn't want to drive the POS shit rental they put me in.
Dispatcher, I am about to send another truck out there to get the load and besides it is YOUR FAULT FOR NOT CHECKING THE DPF FILTER WHEN YOU DID YOUR PRE-TRIP.

Sometimes, dispatchers just need to know when to shut up.

I got an email this afternoon about a load on Wednesday. It delivers 8-noon. Idiot dispatcher has been told at least a million times that I'm asleep by 3pm and I work nights, not days. Why she would even consider me for this load, I have no idea. I work midnight to 8am. Maybe 10am if it's one of my special customers. I need to be in my coffin when the sun is shining or in my pool when it's warm.
