got about 7hrs of sleep, woke up to take a shower and grab breakfast. That took about 2 hours. Walked back out and the frustrated driver was sitting on my step. As I approached the truck he started mouthing off and I attacked him verbally while another senior trucker told him that he doesn't deserve to truck drive because of his stupidity. The senior trucker gave me a thumbs up lol. Ofcourse I didnt move my truck till my 10hrs was up.

Bobtail folks, please have alil courtesy and leave the full size spots for the tired truckers with the burden hitched to the back of their trucks thanks.

You're funnyLMAO and good for you.I bet that driver does'nt park in a full size truck spot anymore.Those bobtails can park dam near anywhere a car can.Like you said have some common courtesy.Now I would'nt have park there because i'd be afraid that bobtail driver would have got me up.

Seriously, there is some very stupid people out there. Common courtesy wether your a truck driver or not. You got the truck drivers that don't park right in the truck stop. I could understand that they're tired and aren't perfect, but heck, get your truck in between the lines, not into the other spot. Sure I get tired as heck sometimes and wont nail a spot dead on, but that doesn't stop me from remembering my fellow truckers are tired as well and will be taking that tight spot next to me. I'll tuck my truck as far away as possible just to make sure the next driver wont have to go through the trouble.
 
Strange that no one has mentioned why truck stops don't put a row of spots around the edge of the parking area for bobtails only...or set up an area for bobtails. Who's truly creating the problem here?

Very few truckstops have bobtail parking only.But the truckstops should have signs posted for bobtails not to park in full size spots.Afterall they have truckstops that say TRUCKS ONLY NO CARS.Why not have no bobtail parking signs as well.
 
The last time I was in Laredo the Pilot there had "bob-tail" parking. It was almost a requirement because so many drivers had to wait for a day or two while their trailer went across the border to be loaded.

Common sense should prevail when bob-tailing. You don't need the room, so, you don't use the room. Plus, while bob-tailing your options for finer dining, and, more convenient parking increase substantially. Who, in their right mind, would want to go park with the rest of the trucks?
 
I could'nt agree with u more,you're bobtailing park anywhere other then a truckstop.If I have the money i'd be staying at a hotel.It's been so long since I drove trk I think I forgot how.But I bobtailed quite often either to go pick up an empty or a load or of course waiting for days for a load and i've never took advantage of bobtailing by spending it at a truckstop.

Let me skew the topic for a second, by shining light on a bit of a different point.

What the hell is it about truck drivers that they don't know anything but truck stops? I was trapped in CA once for a weekend, and there was a guy about 60 miles north who'd been sitting in Rio Vista about a month waiting to unload a tower section. He came and got us at our motel, then drive all the hell the way back to Sacramento, passing 250000 Denny's and other places to eat along the way to eat at that truck stop they tore down not long ago.

Get a life people. Go to Applebees or something if you're bobtailing. The foods better, they serve beer, and you'll have less gas.

I feel like William Shatner doing that Saturday Night Live skit about trekkies.

I hate that place, or any for that martter, when you think you've found a spot only to find it occupied by a 6 wheeler or a bobtail. Anytime I've bobtailed in, I always try and find a spot a trailer can't get into, if not the 4 wheeler parking lot. But that's just me.

Why not just go park on the Masspike service plaza(s) on the back or middle row. lmao. Hope you don't have to be anywhere soon!

Yup... I've heard of this happening, too. Even if the wheels don't turn, you are in control (in a manner of speaking) of that CMV. Lord help you, if the engine is running.

Sometimes, being a trucker sucks.
 
I know of an urban legend. I've heard that story about every vehicle imaginable. I'm not denying the possibility, I just think cops have better things to do. At least, I hope so.

Oh, and there's the one about the team truck with the hole cut in the floor underneath the bunk as a makeshift bathroom. Let's see, that was Air Ride, Werner, and any other company that runs teams...

I think as long as you're not sitting in the seat with the dome light on, and wearing one of those hats with two beer cans and two straws that go to your mouth and dancing on your hood as the po-po cruises the truck stop, you're probably okay. They're looking for dope and lot lizards. They go hand in hand, and dope busts help them get detective a lot faster.

I'm not sure how you could be sitting in the seat, AND have the dome light on AND be dancing on the hood, but just humor me...

Or, has the large company you drive for filled you with THAT much fear that they actually govern your off time too?

Yup, not acting stupid will allow you knock back a few cold 'uns, then, crawl in the bunk, as long as nothing happens that requires you to assume your driver responsibilities. I've rolled those dice, and, won.
 
You realize, you just won the ire of 25 people who buy into the fear mongering that these large companies instill into people about what can go wrong, and why you should just follow the driver's handbook at all times?

I say that because I just spent a week in orientation hearing much that sentiment, but when it came time to grab a stepdeck, and roll, I didn't even know where the "ready line" was.

They spent SO MUCH time telling us what to NOT do, because the insurance company has them by the shorties that I didn't even know the procedure for leaving the freakin' yard. The actual job got lost in liability.

Holy crap, it's going to be a looong 12 months until this lease expires.
