Damn.
This surgery has me on the ropes!
According to the fake news interweb forums a guy with a desk job might be able to return to work in as little as 3 weeks (which is where I am).
With a physical job, maybe 6 weeks.
The pain is like nothing I've ever known.
The right side of my gut is cramping with such a vengeance that it makes me yell out loud at times.
I went to the ER on Wednesday.
The nurse said I was lucky to draw the ER doc on duty because he used to run the whole emergency dept, then retired and now works on a contract basis.
He at least took the time to read my history after an exam.
He gave me a shot that felt like I had an icepick in my glute for a couple of days...
said I should have gotten it before I left the hospital.
Tri-something or other.
He told me not to take anymore narcotics because they would hinder the healing of my gut.
Then when I checked out they gave me a fresh script for oxy from my surgeon.
I don't even know how he knew I was there since he never returned 3 or 4 calls from earlier in the week.
I laid off the pain meds Tuesday night because I figured I'd be going in one way or another from the pain and didn't want drugs to skew an evaluation.
I didn't take any of the oxy until Thursday about noon when the pain and cramping was intolerable.
It helped...
A LOT!!
but the second dose Thursday night didn't do any good at all.
Tonight, bourbon and Ibuprofen is the only thing keeping me upright in this chair.
Ironic, huh?
Because bourbon is what makes it hard to stay upright in the chair sometimes!!
Honestly, if the oxy didn't have acet... amet... Tylenol in it, I'd probably take a handful just to get some relief.
Tylenol scares the crap out of me because a friends daughter who was prone to seizures and short term memory loss OD'd on it once (years ago) and the doctors told him to either sign off on a kidney transplant or a waiver to donate her organs, because she would never recover...
She got a miracle.
I don't even know what's going on.
The surgeon initially told me (more or less) that they got everything and that he didn't anticipate any long-term effects.
Then pulmonary scheduled an appointment and told me that they needed to monitor some nodules on my lungs.

When I went for that appointment they told me that the cancer would probably be very slow growing but may require intervention depending on results from oncology.

Oncology?
Yeah, you have an appointment in two weeks.
Well thanks for sharing...
FUTHERMUCKERS!!
I suppose I ought to retract my previous statements about staying the hell away from doctors and hospitals...
and them being a good place to get on the wrong side of healthy...
on the other hand though,
I felt fine when I showed up for the 'routine' colonoscopy.
We'll see...
