Blood on the saddle.

I saw that little crappy dive restaurant north of Cincy on 71 is now a Flying hook:throwfit:

Always a parking spot, and decent food replaced by pee bottles and PJ Fresh :puke:

Hard times...
so to speak.

Went in for a colonoscopy on the 8th at 10:30 am,
suppose to be a 1 - 2 hour procedure.
All I remember before somebody saying to prep an OR was holding my distended gut and swearing I was about to explode.
:eek-64:
I woke up about 8 pm with a zipper in my belly.
:stare2:

The doctor said he removed about 4' of bowel plus a mass of tumors that were putting pressure on my spine and restricting blood flow.
He said the mass contained about 40 tumors and was about the size of a golf ball...
so they apparently aren't very big individually.
He said pathology told him there were at least 70 more further up the removed section.

They took my appendix and as much intestine as they could (in a particular area) without risking cutting into my main blood supply.

Don't know yet whether any tumors were malignant.
My understanding is that they are fairly common and usually benign until/unless they calcify...
which doesn't necessarily mean that they're malignant, only that it's more likely.
All of mine were calcified,
which is what caused the perforation to begin with according to their best guess.
They ran the scope almost as far as they considered necessary before hitting a difficult spot, then decided to wrap it up since they were about done anyway.
The spot they hit was a hardened tumor which pressed against my intestine causing a perforation.
They weren't aware of it until after I spent a long while begging for drugs...
or death.

I came through (so far) as well as could be expected considering that I'm 62 with some pretty bad eating habits and I've been smoking for nearly 50 years.

I had them shut off the morphine drip on day 3 because I was delirious.
Then on day 4 I had them remove the click-for-morphine button I had for self-administered low dose.
Even that was too much to suit me.
For all the joking about it, I can't imagine anyone digging a morphine high.

I did without until I got out yesterday because their next option was fentanyl.
Prinks wouldn't give a damn Ibuprofen.
:mad-97:

I've got a follow-up on Wednesday to remove staples and drain...
labs ought to be back by then.

I got invited to share expenses monthly with 4 other guys on a local shop (30 days notice on a handshake, no lease).
3 of them are canners and generally do M&R nearly every weekend.
Splitting the cost only works out to about $250 monthly with one of the selling points being that everyone has different skills/knowledge as well as equipment.

I've only been by there a couple of times farting around but after the guy who signed the lease heard about my recent medical issues he told me to be there next weekend for anything that needed done while I'm off. He said that everyone else agreed to pitch in on any work I wasn't able to do because that was part of the reasoning behind grouping together.

The guy who started the group has bins of bolts, nuts, etc in every size, shape & grade you might want.
All sizes of air couplers in straights, 90's & 45's.
Hell, on some jobs, just that would save me hours of running to KC.
I've got a bunch of that stuff too but it's buried all over the place in bins n buckets.
I usually just go to town if I can't locate it within a few minutes.

I can see where this could be a very beneficial relationship for everyone...
or not.
It wouldn't take a whole lot of assistance to realize a ROI as cheap as this is.
We'll see...

It's so. It's a sad day indeed. There was a lawsuit dragging things out but I believe last time I rolled through the deal was done

RIP Smokeys
I'd sooner see that a crater than yet another Love's. It's already a gong show with that hell hole across the road. Won't even be fit if they throw another bullshit chain right on top of it. I know another place I'll never stop again.

I found a new little gem, exit 184 on I69. Old 76 truck stop, newer diner. Pick your spot when I was there, better than the Peelot or the no name one at mm 196. Pretty much any truck stop in the UP and heading into WI like Abbyland or Wilderness crossing are awesome.
Yet still company schmucks tell me I'm nuts for running the UP. Let's see, run Crapcago and Loves/Peelot/J nonsense with no parking, subway/Denny's/McDonald's oooorrrr practically no traffic, lots of parking and diner food. Schmucks

Being OS and running 35-45 mph does suck a lot running the UP tho

I stopped there once I think to grab some D batteries for a beacon real fast. I was in a bit of a hurry so didn't look around too much. That's a bit too close to home for me to envision a scenario I would be staying there. The yard is about 2 hours from the Bluewater Bridge.
