Bad Tire? What bad tire?

Flatbedder For Life!
I was getting a couple of new steer tires put on last week and this guy was outside trying to put air in a tire on his trailer.
He was out there a long time cussing the thing, so I wandered over to see what the problem was....

This is what he was trying to put air in.....018 - Copy.jpg

The tire guy came out and we were just standing there staring at the guy in disbelief.
The guy didn't want to replace it and asked if they would patch it....
He finally let them put a used tire on it and after they dismounted this tire I just had to take a photo and share it here.

Just amazing.

And people wonder why I say the DOT is not doing their job. Walk through a TA any morning.

Sad thing is....This guys tractor was a POS, held together with tarp straps and duct tape.
I see guys like this running all over the place and yet...The only trucks I see "around back" of the scale house are nicer, newer and obviously better maintained.

It makes a guy wonder sometimes.

Agreed. Working Manchester they would say "pull every third and hazmat". Watch a truck roll through with the volvo wobble on the steers and sparks coming from the trailer tires.....but he was #2 so bypass he goes:bonk:

I asked the guy why the heck he didn't pull him in and his response was "Can't spend to much time picking and choosing so we do every xx truck. Random roadsides will clean those guys up.':stare2:

The CVSA guy just shook his head and made some notes. Kelvin said they brought it up in the conference call held the week after. No idea if anything will change.

I notice a lot of construction floats (assumedly local) going across with no working lights, etc just about everywhere I go. Often they're carrying machinery that is just barely secured. Must P the heavy hauler off real bad.

This is an accident waiting to happen. Even i ii am not that cheap. Did you call CHP or Dot?

.

One of our part time escorts was 17 years Air Force (and R.I.F.'d out under Clinton with her full 20), then got a full pension from the DOT as a driving test administrator.

She also thinks the government works just fine.
