Apparently my rates are too high

Put in a couple cheap bids with Uber this evening. Two places I didn’t want to go, but figured they would pay better than other locations.

At least, I thought they were cheap.

Got a notification that my bids were too high.

I don't get any PPP nor do I have anything on the EIDL yet. My Line 31 was negative last year due to section 179 / depreciation. To take the hit for paying income taxes and such, it would just be offset by whatever the PPP payment would be. Essentially only giving me enough to cover what I have to pay for income taxes.

Minnesota has the entire unemployment thing for self-employed so screwed up, it's a nightmare as well.

But when the rates are paying less than my operating costs, I'll mitigate the maintenance and fuel and figure other things out.

Corporate greed!!! On there part I thought the rates were reasonable.
Last "Month' people were "Hoarding"..was a "spike" for Big/Box and Groceries

This month into next "atleast" everybody LOCKED DOWN

Think Auto Plants , Smelters, even Meat "Processors" SHUT-DOWN..

Add to that "Less" Consumption....

People can't "Go-Out" and even if they could probably ain't got a JOB anymore so less $pending Ca$h or "Consumerism"

Been looking for the "next load" for a couple of days... not seeing anything reasonable (Buck-A-Mile Freight is beyond reasonable to the point of being insulting.)

So... get to delivery today, wondering just how bad this week was going to be. Open up DAT, poke around... nothing worthwhile for later today. Make a couple of calls on freight for tomorrow. Apex: that one's gonna be a loser... they got a bunch of freight sitting out there, some of it looks like multiple listings of the same loads, and they're not answering the phone. Good. Saves me from saying bad words to them!

Choptank: usually cheap, but I get some good loads from them. We discuss... nursery load, they want E-tracks and straps... Nope!

Keep going, and there's one from a different broker I've used a couple of times in the last couple of months... all reasonable loads, good experiences. Its been sitting there awhile too. Call 'em up, discuss, make an offer... not a low ball either. They bounced it up a hundred.

:D

I like these guys!

Looking more and more like it’s gonna be mostly short loads, and mostly exempt loads so I won’t have to worry about HOS.

I’ll keep trying on the longer loads, but I’m content to let those loads go on other trucks until this super low freight goes away.

Can’t wait til this flips.

Still bidding my time at home.

Opened up the APU today from the century. It's junk. Worth core only. Everything external is locked up, over $3000 worth of parts to buy. And still have to find a frame. I can identify 3-4 pieces right now of it that might be salvageable. Otherwise, it's time to start hacking it apart and put it back together with new steel.

I don't have the shop tools to do all that work. Welder etc. Alternator, compressor and such were all new when I put it on lease three years ago. Even the wiring is corroding apart.
