Anyone use laptops w/ a wireless IP ?

Yeah, I didn't sign any contract with mine. I just bought the card and had it activated. Luckily, I know the Rep very well and don't have to worry about getting scammed into anything.

do you guys know how to test your speed on those isp's? I'd be interested to know what speeds your getting with the different serves weither your just using the hotstop or a wireless aircard from a provider.

If you go to Speakeasy - Speed Test find a area it pings you and does a download and upload test.

60 a month sounds high to me but if its my best choice than I'll do it or just use the hot spots at the truck stops. You guys are saying they charge for access at the stops right? whats the average rate?

Wifi is great if you are at a hotspot. With my air card though, I can get online anywhere.

I use my own wireless card and connect to the idleair internet. or flying j or ta or whom ever has a wifi setup!!!

I personally like the wifi, If you think about it. how often do you get time on the road to use the computer???? I just pull into the truck stop slap in the wifi and i am ready to roll.. I may use it for 1 hr or 10 just depends. But I have used the wifi i like it!

I do this as well if I got much I need to get much done and the air card connection isn't real fast in the area.

I use the U720 from Nextel/Sprint it is a USB Card that will work in any computer and seems to be the best i have found yet. Fast connection in most areas and seems everywhere i go i can get some type of connection. Even in the boonies.

I've always used the free WIFI from hotels and even Mcdonalds has
Free wifi now.
