Another big storm

I’ve done a couple loads at 11’6” and 12’ wide that were shiny stainless steel tanks. Two were dairy tanks two were feed mill tanks. I dropped both to fuel.

I know most pumps are 14’ to 16’ wide. Maybe in a couple years I’ll sail through those pumps at 12’ wide

Until then I’m still building my reputation and don’t need any stupid driver awards for ****ing up the load in the fuel island
Always error to the side of caution. I get nervous dragging those 11’11” John Deere cultivators thru a fuel pump.

Our specialized guys play by different rules than us line haul guys do. We rarely haul anything wider than 10’6”. Because I’m a victim of my own success and they are trying to recruit me to specialized I get to pull some of the big boy loads up to 12’. So at 10’6” I don’t worry at all. It fits thru the pumps with ease. And if they hit that 1” steel plate stack they gonna do more damage to their truck than they will that steel plate.
12 and 14 wide if it's a short load....plates precast some shyte like that....not such a big deal. Get out past 13 and most of your max height you begin to understand why pilots exist.

The day I get my truck in the “stupid steering wheel holders” thread the day I hang the keys up

I’ve done stupid stuff, needed a yank once on a job site, but I’ve never damaged my truck, trailer, or the load

It all depends on the fuel pump. There isn't a TA or Canadian card lock I've seen yet that I would try much more than 10.....drop the trailer or have the pilot help me back out if I had one.

OTOH I've also seen pumps you could shag 15 and 16 wide through no sweat. Petro Pass in Medicine Hat.....a lot of American peelots ....

The Husky in St Catherine’s has a wide fuel lane

But I agree, most in Canada it’s a struggle to get 102” wide with a 53’ through

Most the places i have to wait at are.....you guessed it! Steel Mills! And they are all dark, everyone who works there seems pissed off or depressed and they all move like pond water. God damn lazy assed union dues payin mouth breathin getting it on with their sister life hating el Camino driving mullet having.....
I take it you haven't seen the Simpsons episode.... :D

I bet @Rigjockey knows what I'm talking about.

Sheetz in Mt Jackson VA has a dedicated wide load fuel lane.

First and only time I ever saw one, although I don't get out much. Thought it was a nice touch on their part.

we are supposed to get snow, sleet, freezing rain, then rain, the more snow and ice temps, they are calling for a "flash freeze", just after the storm passes by sunday..we are going to put tarps on all the cars, so the doors do not get iced shut.

in fact, before i came home this morning, i stopped at wally';s world, for more bungee cords

Ok so I haul a lot of steel in the winter. Do you ever have a problem with you shutting your car off warm putting the tarp on. And as the car cools it condensates and your tarp gets frozen to the car?

I have this problem with coils. They are usually in a warm building when loaded and I tarp them then pull out and the tarp gets frozen to the coil. I started putting a rubber coil mat on top under the tarp to prevent it from freezing to the coil.

yeah, sometimes the tarp does stick to the hoods.. but i am home now, and have only a few short errands to run in a bit..

by the time we put on the tarps, 2 cars will be stone cold.

my bro-in-laws will be warm..

but i don't care if he has a problem removing his tarp, cuz if he rips my high dollar Harbor Freight tarp, he's buying me a newer (bigger) one.....

good stuff cheap, and lasts long.......!!!

at least 1 whole month...!!!!!!!!!
Hah. I've got some things that have lasted me for years. Others that feel like they'll last years.

But most of it, not so much. Couple weeks if you're lucky. I go through their orange ratchet straps as if they're a one time use deal. 😂
