Pets are not required nor are they freight. Having a pet on board is not a viable excuse. Both of my dogs were on board ELD-equipped trucks. AJ was with me at Prime and at Swift. I had plenty of time to keep him healthy. Maggie did fine as well.

This is just another excuse to avoid ELDs. Simple answer is if it's inhumane to have a pet subjected to ELDs, don't have the pet on the truck.

And this constant crap about forcing drivers to only take one single half-hour break in an entire day: Complete, unmitigated bullshit.

Eld's aren't the problem. Unrealistic rules that it forces you to follow is the problem. When I was on paper, the "rules" were something I used to make my logbook look good. I was much safer driving at my pace than trying to drive at some pencil pushers pace.

I had an eld in the truck during the last 3 years that I drove. That was by far the most miserable driving I did in 4 million miles. I have no desire to drive again in today's environment.

Used to be a OOIDA Senior member. Until I realized the top management were all a bunch of far left bed wetting liberal Democrats.
OOIDA's opposition to the ELD was all about guys wanting to be able to fake up a paper log, nothing else. I have a few problems with the ELD but they are outweighed by trucking companies no longer being able to coerce you into running illegal. A couple of the biggest outlaws I ever worked for are now running legal. The freight still gets delivered, the sun still comes up and all those customers who were in danger of going out of business if that truck didn't make 1500 miles a day are still in operation. Pisses me off when I think of all the bullshit I was fed over the years.

It's basically the "Law" of the Land now..

I "don't" have to "LIKE" it but I tell you what when I got DOT earlier having E-LOGS is quick..

Back when I had Paper they "really" used to look em over even got warnings for proper form..

Once an actual Ticket had today and 6 couldn't find my 7th....that was a Hundred Bucks and just mailed em a check

Years ago a company I worked for would hold your Paycheck until ya came in terminal and fixed your logs big thing with them was Fuel Card must "match"..

Then when Safety was "satisfied" he'd tell the managar to release your paycheck which was locked in his desk

Most of the time if a cop demands your logbook and you hand them your ELD tablet they just hand it back. One old hag at the Sundance, WY. POE fumbled around with mine mentally counting up on duty hours until I pointed out a 34 hour restart three days ago. Then she had to save face by babbling some nonsense. She has white hair and is about as wide as she is tall. And her IQ is about the same as her age. If you have to deal with her just agree. DO NOT argue.
It isn't worth your time to deal with stupidity.
