Accident on my CDL

How long does it take for an accident to fall off my CDL? Does anyone have any suggestions on places who hire company drivers with an accident? The accident happened last Feburary

depends on your state..my state, 3 years.

other states 5 years.

best to have a police report available as any HR dept or company hiring person will want to see that report.

The long form driving history in Colorado has every time they caught you picking your nose from the time you got your first learner's permit.
yes, that is the lifetime record, which my state has as well..but the "immediate" drop off for some states is either 3 years, like mine, or 5 years in some others..there maybe states with longer or shorter "immediate" files/records.

when i applied for jobs and on the application it asked for my record for the past 5 years, but my state only goes back 3...i could only supply those 3 years.

not too many companies order up the lifetime driving record, but i'd be sure that if one had several wrecks in a short span of time, a company would just deny that person a job, or they themselves will order up the lifetime record.

How about that driver PSP (?) record that's maintained by the FMCSA as part of the CSA program? If this was a towaway - involved a tow truck to untangle the jackknife, it will be in the federal database. I don't recall at this point how long the feds maintain bad words in their tattletale report.

doesn't that drop off when the points drop off?

like 3 years?

i can't fully recall either.......

A PSP record contains a driver's most recent 5 years of crash data and the most recent 3 years of roadside inspection data from the FMCSA MCMIS database.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get a job while its on your record? Im at a company now but the pay isn't even worth it. Im looking for a new company willing to take me with the accident .
stay where you are at, for one of many reasons, that accident will fall off the record, and you will be showing a new employer you stay a while at jobs.

ask your boss for a raise.

gonna be hard but not entirely difficult to get another job right now.

just not too many places that are the same size or smaller then where you are now, can afford insurance spikes, and that's EVEN IF the insurance company gives the ok for you to be hired.

you could try "second chance places", but if you think your pay sucks now.......you ain't gonna be doin' any better at those places.

what ever caused you to wreck, learn from that, and make corrections, for this upcoming winter.

Just food for thought here. Most tickets and accidents stop effecting your CSA score after 3 years but fall off your MVR or employers stop looking at them after 5 years. Some accidents of extremely high cost or things like a suspension will stay on your MVR indefinitely. My dad has an accident from 1978 that is still listed on his MVR. I have a suspension from when I was 18 (22 years ago) on my MVR.

Most companies want 5 years clean and clear. There are some that will let you have up to two blemishes in that 5 year period.

You're new and already have an accident. Not to come across as blunt, but if your current employer isn't going to terminate you then you need to stay there, cause no one is going to pay good money for a student driver with a recent accident.
