A Call To All Americans......


exactly my friend; THESE are the ways WE are fighting back. #1: think depression NOT recession; join freecycle.org; & other local groups in your area; mine are on yahoo; we advocate BUY LOCALLY; Ashland Ore is trying to turn into a food farm; we are all trying to share/crop; share/farming; community gardening & farming; locally the folks do not use growth hormones; England is advocating the same; ORGANIC farming; using crop rotation & using manure (NOT pesticides;) do NOT use "clone" seeds; warning labels have to be on ALL foods with them in most other countries (not here in USA); we are picking up canning jars; myself I have helped but never done; so I hope to assist more learned ones than I in doing so; community efforts of people helping people; advocating use lawns for gardening; saves gas as do not have to mow;
 
tips for how to live better

learn to live frugally; the freecycle.org & other local ones in your area as I see on yahoo! groups are: moms living frugally; great tips & you can pass some on if have; here is an example: I prefer to eat Orowheat 100% whole wheat bread; it is $4.15 in stores; I went to their thrift store here in town which is where I always buy bread products; it was $1.59 buy one get one; they also had same bread sliced as sandwich bread for 89 cents each; 90 x 2= $1.80; therefore i got the $1.59 for 2 which was 80 cents each; all bread & bread products are good in freezers for up to 3 months; i got onion hamburger buns for 89 cents as opposed to $2 in stores; I got extra sour dough sliced bread to make own garlic bread for 89 cents; since I am 29 twice I get seniors discount; i get cards & they stamp for purchases made; once full I get free items; ie bread, entemann cakes, etc; just for making a purchase i was given free a bag of 8 whole wheat hamburger buns; all in all I got 3 loaves of bread; 2 packages of awesome hamburger buns; & for $3.30; I did not buy raisin bread, bagels, or Australian biscuits cuz they were not marked down or not marked down enough; it is WELL worth the extra gas to get the savings; I was in the area & bought; froze; & will have on hand when ready to use. On the way home, I stopped at local farmers produce stand we have here & paid 39 cents a lb for onions grown in Oregon; higher than the 24 cent ones coming from overseas somewhere but WORTH it to me to buy locally; previously I paid only 19 cents a lb far cheaper than in any grocery around this area for locally grown onions. However, some grocery stores in our area DO buy truckloads of produce LOCALLY & I will go there to buy.
 
fiftyplusandkids group is another excellent group on yahoo to join; there are folks teaching kids in day care & under how to grow food & do so organically & give great tips on how to hand pollinate cuz the shortage of bees to pollinate is due to chemical use tho OUR Gov claims "no idea", perhaps a virus etc; GOOD idea to get & copy & give to everyone you know as without pollination there will be no food; there are lots of recycling done for FREE; if you have something you no longer need ie clothes outgrown, computers, wood stoves, beds, bikes, whatever you might have locally in your area; join; it is a people helping people networking system set up; right now our Gov is trying so hard to put an end to this farming etc that they claim "food prices" going up cuz of shortage of manure; THERE IS NONE; but folks with cows, rabbits, chickens, etc; are all going together to save some & let us use; remember our Gov paid folks to let grains & crops & fruit lay & rot to control prices in the past; this is NOT new folks; it IS a way to FORCE us to do what they want us to do. BECAUSE we are resisting it, it is getting worse; if you think that is going to stop us: honey, my mothers side of the family came over on the Mayflower; my dad's side was here to meet them; this is MY country & I am above & beyond fed up with the greed & corruption going on here; you are welcome to read my postings same handle on theamericandriver.com; some folks think I am simply sounding off about the Gov; i am sounding the alarm as long loud & hard as I can to STOP the greed corruption & dishonesty; & BRING justice & TRUTH back into our land; I called into Washington Journal on C-span to let them know I am Independent & MY definition of patriotism is WHEN THE PEOPLE are not being HURT; the mans eyes widened; WHAT? He asked: I said Patriotism is when the PEOPLE are NO LONGER being hurt the way they have been from Washington; & that was it & no more;
 
GO grocery shopping on a full stomach or get someone in your area to do so; like I do for the excercise; I walk to lose weight & get the exercize; because I have always been on a small budget: I walk thru the stores & check prices & compare; NEVER ever buy at 1 store only; see notes on using THRIFT bread stores; unite as friends & neighbors; let others know where can get best buys IF they want to learn to live frugally; all THAT means is keeping $ in YOUR pockets rather than let it go to others; Not all folks are willing to learn; they mistakenly feel it takes to much time etc; my grandkids know if something is a good buy or not; I taught my daughter & I am teaching my grandkids; & I can teach others if they are willing to learn; I bought food for the month twice for neighbors; I gave them info on how to live & shop to make $ stretch; they didn't do it; I explained gently to them that the 2 of them getting social security (I am on disability) were getting more of an income that I am; I could no longer help them foodwise: If you GIVE a man a fish; he will eat a meal; if you TEACH him to fish, he will eat for a lifetime; I did however loan them $102 with a check made out directly to medicare so they would not lose their benefits as their money order had not made it there or so I was told; this was on the 3rd month; they ARE paying me back $20 a month; so far this is May they have paid me $30 towards it; but they are paying me back which is more than I can say some others have done; what I am TELLING you is this: you need to drastically change your way of thinking & doing things; I advocate making your own laundry soap; its cheap easy & a fraction of what you will pay in the stores; seen the cost of laundry soa p ie TIDE lately in the stores? $28! at Costco for 200 loads generic is $20.00; I can tell you at Fred Meyer's they have a brand that is $7.99 for 150 loads which is the cheapest in the area; however, making your own is still far cheaper yet; you can pay $4 for a gallon of milk; OR you can go to the store that sells it for $2.65; you can pay $12 to $14 for a ham like Corn King OR you can go to the store in town that sells it for $6.75 & sometimes as low as $4.95; the DECISION to do so is on YOU; if you are lucky enough to have a home you can put up a clothes line to dry your clothes save a bundle on electricity; are you interested even in hearing more or no?
 
You job is to fight and to survive!

I just spent time going through the Sportsman's Guide- Discount Hunting Gear, Discount Hunting Boots, Discount Shoes, Discount Ammunition, Discount Ammo, Discount Boots, Military Surplus, Outdoor Gear website, lot of camping gear at low prices. For those of you who need a pair of boots they have a Hi-Tec waterproof boot for $26.95 ( hi tec is an English company), and if your a member the price is $22.49. I 've never had a problem with High-Tec boots ...... and they have EE and wider sizes.

BUT as I went through the hundreds of camping items I couldn't help but wonder just how many of their items are made in China? I have a feeling as most of us must have, is America being shipped down the river without a paddle, are we being sacrificed to the corporate gods.

Just what is left that America manufactures today, and will it manufacture it tomorrow? This isn't just a fuel problem we are facing, this is the end of America that we are facing. Down through history America has had to adapt to new technologies, and with those changes the American worker has had to adapt as well. Okay, that a fact of life, but it was American technology we adapted to, and that made it a bit easier to swallow. Today our government is asking us to change our way of life to give our quality of life to poorer nations, and I don't have a problem with that, except that we being forced to give up everything that is America, we are being forced, not asked, to give up everything that is America.

What have we done in the past when a segment of our nation was made to adapt to new jobs, new changes, we helped each other adapt. Our government retrained us, gave us tax breaks, covered our backs while we struggled to fit back into the system, without losing everything.

I was raised a moderate republican, until I went to work, that was when I became a moderate democrat, now I'm a registered Independent, leaning way to the left now. Anyone who is a member of the working class, and is a republican doesn't understand want the republican party represents today. I'm not talking about the Eisenhower republican when corporation grew the employees grew with the company, you knew you had a job forever. Today the republican party is for the corporations, and no one else, except the stock holders, the employees are a dime a dozen in China..... the Union are all but gone, there is no one to speak for the worker, and the republicans worked hard to get rid of the Unions. Now look at what is happening today ........ will you survive, will your children survive, will America survive?

We are not just fighting over fuel prices, we are fighting to survive, to save America from those who don't care one way of the other if we survive or just disappear off the face of the earth. So? I say fight like a banshee until your last breath .... because for me ..... I rather be dead than anything but an American!

the letter of the gentleman above is quite correct; it is FAR deeper than the price of gas unfortunately which is NOT going to go down; how do I know this? cuz the day AFTER the big truck strike in Wash DC I believe it was GMC was offering $2.99 gas guarenteed for a certain length of time IF you bought one of their "rigs"; political propaganda is going on trying to fool folks: HOWEVER: do NOT stop resisting; & if you think it is to hard, or don't want to put forth the effort THINK about the end result; CHANGE OUR THINKING is what is required here; WE know their tactics well, do you? THEIR plan for us is evil, not for our good; WE know the tactics that are being used from state to state; do YOU? Resistence is going on at multiple levels & by multitudes of people & in multiple countries believe it or not; :cheers: LET"S make the change be OUR way, NOT theirs!

If i shut myself in my house, would it make the world's problems disappear,
Or when i wake tomorrow would they still be here?
Do I face the day with sunshine and hope,
It's a lot to bear, I'm not sure i can cope.
There is such a heavy burden on my heart,
Our country is in such a mess, i just don't know where to start.
My mind grows weary as i lay awake at night,
The thoughts never stop about how do i fight.
This burden i have taken on is alot to bear,
But I know Im not alone, there are others out there.
I am a proud American, as you can see,
I will fight to the end with others like me....

this is beautiful; just got an email from fiftyplusandkids fantastic group on yahoo if anyone cares to join; folks are actively teaching even preschoolers to garden & become self sufficient; lots of great ideas; anyhoo they wrote of a peace march in New York; and also have links to many other places where gardening & going organic is so incredibly important; also, where do you start? In your home: stop the pollution of the earth because if YOU don't start, it won't get done! In YOUR universe of folks you encounter daily become the one that is the catalyst to teach & train & show; Be a HERO! Help Earth Retain Oxygen! Not only will it help prevent the demise of bees which would be a total loss of most all food folks which means the end of us; so start with you; & what you CAN do & each little becomes part of a massive effort & Pres Bush says "let businesses do what they want when they want"; so it will not get done unless started with YOU; it helps the Earth; keeps $ in YOUR pockets & not in Big Business & really really hurts THEM in the pocketbook!

What I want

I want the ass end of the trucks loaded again. I want fuel to drop, and hold.
I want house's to start being built again.
I want jobs to come back.
I want to drill our own country for oil.
So I guess I dont think Green!
And I dont care, because without green stuff.
none of it matters.
I dont mean to be harsh, but I like roof's, running water, tolits that flush, Elec,phones,T.V.
grocery stores.
Yes sometimes I do buy from the produce stand. And If the stinken load payed right I dont give a ****what was hauled.
I want the friggen boarders closed.I want all drivers who cant read or speak ENGLISH off our roads.I want shippers& Brokers held responsible for letting these people screw us, by undercutting us.
I want to be able for all of us to afford to run the friggen trucks, and at least pay the stupid bills.
I want to be able to cross our own State lines with out having to pay and buy all the bullshit to do it.
At least till our friggen Country gets right again.
So we have a chance to work, With out everyone sticking there friggen hand in it . INSURANCE/LIB. and CARGO! That's it......

We can all start by not shopping at stores like walmart who buy so much chinese crap its sickening. The more you help china, the more of our jobs you export and the higher our fuel costs go. Why would you want to help the chinese economy? Its NEVER made any sense to me. If thats not bad enough, there communist and hate us!

It helps corporations sure, but its killing our middle class.

Boycotting walmart would do more than striking ever would. Sam Walton used to have "bring it home to the U.S.A." mudflaps on all his trucks. He believed in this country and buying as much as possible from home. Since he died, his greedy kids have abandoned his principles and sold there souls to the devil in exchange for high profits and stock prices.

If thats not bad enough, walmart doesn't even have the decency to pay a decent wage. They sue there employees to recover health expenses (the latest one they dropped after public outrage). Walmart could add just one penny to each item it sells and give each employee a FULL pension at 65. Its doesn't.

The old saying, buy American has never had so much meaning and importance as it does now.
