Don't wait too long. If it shatters, it won't store well.i was supposed to dig up my garlic today...screw it, it's muggy...maybe i'll do it monday morning
well i dug up all my garlic. i had planted 15 back in the fall. 13 grew, and only 12 were intact when i dug them up. one was broken up, so i think most of those cloves will just (hopefully) grow next year.Don't wait too long. If it shatters, it won't store well.

Speaking of August 4th, isn’t it about time @Blood puts up the Gardening 2019 thread.
Six guns. I don’t break those out for just anybody.
show us a pic or 2 of the slices..???
never heard of that tomato, did you buy the seeds or get the plant at a greenhouse??
i can't imagine my old mom making black gravy (tomato sauce for you non-Italians)

typically, yes, roma makes good gravy, as it is all meaty inside, but we have made gravy from other varieties of tomatoes as well.Bought the plants in 2” pots.
I don’t think you’d use these for gravy. Roma’s are what’s used for sauces I believe.

well i jotted down the name, i keep a yearly accounting of what i buy and i will keep that name in the file for next year. i'll also check the various seed companies, maybe buy a package for next year, even though growing from seeds has failed me in the past.Local outdoor center, no greenhouse. I can’t remember the name of the greenhouse that started them. However, I’ve bought them at Walmart in years past. I have to search for them every year and sometimes come up empty.
any of you gardeners collecting rain water for your garden?
are you using a simple 55 gallon barrel, or a bladder in your backyard or under your decks?
i gave that some thought, after all the rains we have been having the past 3-4 days now...
yeah, we had a very (and continuing) heat wave situation here. i do not have as many vegetables as i once did.I don’t. I’ve thought about it but haven’t been serious enough to execute any thing. We’ve had so much rain these past couple of seasons that I don’t worry much about watering.
