Our CO. put us in a new Freightliner Cascadia... We were so excited... it only had 63 miles on it, and was clean.. no smoke smell... brand new mattress.. brand new everything! We were as excited as a 5 year old on Christmas morning... Until the first time it broke down... and the 2nd time it broke down.... See where I'm going with this? lol... First time, it lost prime and was sucking air... second time.. same thing... third time, spedometer spinning like crazy, lights blinking all over dash... tach revving and stopping... Transmission fault light... and all of this happened when we just started it up!!
Then I started hearing that These new cascadia's are the worse yet for breaking down!
Ok, I want an old stinky truck that runs... screw these new trucks..lol

The song: There might be a little dust on the bottle, but don't let it fool ya about what's inside" Is running through my mind now... guess you can say that about trucks too :)

i drove a columbia where the lights went out, and the speedo had a mind of its own. the battery would go dead because the safety feature would not cut off the power if the truck was not running for 2 days and the fridge was running, it also had a lousy autoshift that never broke down on me, but it did several times on the previous driver....boy was he P.O'd when he found out i never had any transmission problems..!! it took me all of 2 times to biotch about parking the truck on the side of the road, and they fixed it all up....

read the crpacadia has alot of issues from something to do with the cruise controll with the naveto software to the wipers just going out and the lights just going out on the dash. i wouldn't give it to my worst enemy. the only frieght shaker i might look at is the classic xl.

i drove a columbia where the lights went out, .

Internationals used to be famous for that, poor design, they ran the heater hose right underneath the fuse box so in the winter time, the fuses would get so hot they would trip, like the light switch, nothing like coming down a mountain pass in a snowstorm at night when the lights go out. On a buddies truck, we ended up re-routing the heater hose, eliminated a lot of it but not all.

Freightliner has done everything possible to design and build disposable semi's, I think they got it right in the Cascadia, have heard not one thing good about them.

yup the wifey and i have a 6 month horror story that involves a 11 freight shaker crapcadia spent 1 week a month in the shop b4 we took it back and parked it on the lawn from def issues other exhaust n emmisions issues to turbo issues you name it it prettymuch failed in the first six months not to mention the under dash fire the second day we had it when the amfm radio just decided to give the ghost i should have just stepped back and watch that pos burn to the ground then but lit the fire extinguisher in it instead dohhhh!!! that was primarily a wiring issue to the radio, talk about a mess.. all these pos are made in mexico and it shows lack of workmanship and total lack of durability, just like all other mexican made imports they are pieces of **** and will continue to be as long as we keep buying them and driving them.. i ended up acquiring a new pete 587 and yet to have 1 issue with it... made in America by americans and driven by americans= pride

we've put 80'000 miles on in 5 months and it hasn't even farted?????
i like them because they are more manuverable than pete's and are lighter,so fewer worries there
not as much chrome and woodgrain as a pete but hey i like em.
i learned to drive on a ford cl9000 like at the I-80 truckstop museum, in walcott and they are a LOT better than those

I've had one issue with the transmission in my Cascadia that put me in the shop for a couple days. That happened at just over 100K. Other than that, the only issues I have had is with minor air leaks due to a crappy "quick connect" design that they have gone to on the small air lines going to the governor.

Besides that, I have now gone over 200K with very few complaints in my 2010.

that should be the rule not the exception. Everybody who has driven them complains of the computer and electrical issues, since I buy used, I listen to driver complaints, I should have listened a little harder before I bought this volvo, that is for sure.

Guess We will find out just how cruddy the CrapCadia's are..... SPD just bought 30 of them,, taking delivery of a few per week..

They must be offering one heck of a deal, Mawson has a few company trucks, all Pete's that they are trading in for the Cascadias. I think they are going to regret it but the owner's son already said it is a numbers thing.
