2004 volvo 780 codes.

I have an 04 780 d-12 getting codes of sid 146 and 266 any body know what they are? I unhooked the batterys for 45 minutes and they are still there I'm getting around 5 mpg and I used to get 6 or better wondering if there related?

Code 146 is supposed to indicate the EGR temperature is out of the normal range, but should be followed by either a "/0" (for high temp), a "/1" (for low temp), a "/12" (for a bad component), a "/7" (for a valve that is non functional) or a "/2" (for erratic data).

Code 266 is also EGR related.

You will need to take the truck to a Volvo dealer so they can diagnose the problem and make repairs. My guess is that the EGR is about to fail, or already has failed.
