Owner Operator Replacing the T660 with a new Cascadia

Bet you bought all the bleeping blooping shit I told you not to buy too, didn't you?

I actually didn't. I was going to, simply because I wanted the adaptive cruise, but the cost wasn't justified in the end. That money is better spent on a warranty.

Disc brakes are the only recent advancement worth a damn. Everything else completely kills the job.

Wait, the feature where you see the speed of the vehicle in front of you on the onguard becomes handy, but it totally overshadowed by the fact it likes to dynamite the brakes going under bridges.

It only scares the shit out of you every time though.

I dont know why you'd want adaptive cruise either.

I override 99% of the time. By pressing the throttle.

Again, not the fantastic thing you seem to think it is.

I had it on my T680 and actually liked it. When I come up behind a truck going less than a mph slower than me, I'm happy to just cruise behind it rather than drag racing past it.

USX disabled that for us. It was a speed readout only and for our purposes. It didn't go to corporate or apply braking.

It was nice to see their speed to make passing decisions.

When I first started here I had one on a 2015. I didnt even have the cruise on. I was driving in wet slushy snow mess. It iced up.

The entire interior of the truck started beeping loudly and screaming like Juggalos being forced to bathe, and it brought the truck to a COMPLETE stop in the middle of traffic. How I didn't get blasted in the rear I dont know. Somehow I got to the shoulder while sputtering and jerking and more beeping, shut the truck off, cleaned the thing off on the front, sat a minute, then was able to go again.

For every warm fuzzy story about 1 mph difference trucks, there's 25 nightmare stories about all this bullshit they're putting on trucks.

Disc brakes are the only decent advancement.

Yeah it should not be active when cruise is not active. PERIOD.

Brake lockup on ice is the last thing you want.

That was an earlier software version thats been updated (supposedly) so I'm sure everything is perfect now.

This truck only slammed the brakes once last week going put to Minot and back. Which is an improvement. It sounds the alarm when the cruise is set, but doesn't blast the brakes anymore.

But BACK TO MIKES TRUCK.

Did you know the Apollo capsule they flew to the ******* moon and back had less computing power than your average calculator?

So its a good thing @Mike new truck doesn't have any of this crap, because making something more complicated doesn't make it better.

My ungoverned 2011 no nanny manual Schneider truck was awesome.

I should NEVER have tried regional.

The DT12 is standard for us now too, but I've not driven one in really bad conditions.

Or tried to pull a trailer out of a slippery dock.

I dont really talk to anyone either so I'm not sure what other guys think of them.

Its hard to get real opinions sometimes from these people. They usually tell you what they think the company wants them to say, not what they actually think, as if they'll get in trouble.

If I ever get that brainwashed someone please promise to shoot me in the face very hard.

Thank you.

I ran into that a lot too. Nobody wants to rock the boat. Like they're afraid to get fired for having a dissenting opinion.

No problem, well, One problem. I will need to borrow your gun. :D

Truck is officially ordered and in line to be built now after the last minute change for the disc brakes. I'm still surprised that disc brakes only make the truck $1300 more, which tells me that we are a few short years away from drum brakes being completely obsolete (as they should be).

Once the truck makes it to the dealer in Joplin, it goes over to Thermo King to install the APU, Bunk Heater, and Arctic Fox fuel tank heaters.

I debated on the fuel tank heaters a bit, but figure the ROI on that will be a positive as it will keep me from having to dump chemicals in the tank during the winter in order to keep the fuel from turning into a sponge.

The initial plan is to not use any fuel additive for fuel economy, though I definitely notice a difference in my current truck now that I have stopped using the Primrose. I may test it briefly to see if it might be a net positive once the truck gets broken in and I see where fuel economy is.

Attaching build sheet for critiquing (minus the disc brakes)
