Driver's Retirement Thread

I finally said, 'Screw it, I'm cruising today'. Took a 100 mile ride around NASA and the county. I have 2 weeks left on my access badge, so I figured I'd get in there while I could. Beautiful 65-70 degree day. The sky, almost as blue as my car.

When I pulled up the the guard shack, you never know who will come out, I came up next to the door and this "11" blonde comes out with the biggest smile and eyes as blue as the sky and my car. I accidentally dropped my badge on the ground and looked at her and said, "Ma'am, you are gorgeous". These people in uniform sorta demand the Ma'am and Sir, routine. I give it out of respect.

Anyway, she never looked at my badge, said thank you, asked if I had any weapons and where I was going. I answered her questions and she told me to enjoy my ride.

Cruising along I spotted a space capsule crated outside of a warehouse like it was ready to be picked up. I couldn't pass up the photo op. Also grabbed a few shots across the river from the famous Launch Pads 39A and 39B. After that, I ran up to the north end of the county and putted back down US 1.

That would be cool to see a space capsule so close up. Any Idea what those circular stickers with white and black triangles mean?

The car looks fantastic too.

No sir. I really didn't take the time to hang around and study it. Doing so might attract the wrong kind of attention.

@Electric Chicken may be onto something with that thought. Maybe they drop it out of a chopper at the same speed it would be if entering the atmosphere and it has sensors all over it.

That must have been where US 1 intersects with I-95. There is a huge Harley store there. Exit 273 I think it is.

It seems as though coming south, as soon as you pass I-4, there is no one on the road. Going north, as soon as you pass I-4, it's a madhouse. It's all the Orlando and Tampa idiots that come over here because I-75 is always gridlocked.

This retirement stuff is kinda cool. I have 3/4 of a legal pad page filled with projects, yet I get out there and just look at things and think, 'Nah, that'll wait until next week'. I know me, next week will come and go and I'll still be looking on the pad to get these jobs done in order of importance.

Come time to travel and I'll try and get it all done in one day. Never do today, what you can put off until tomorrow.

I must be retired.

I am not retired but I leave everything to be done until the last minute. That's what the last minute is for, getting things done!
In the USA our tax return deadline is April 15th but we can file them as soon as business hours open up on Jan 2.

I just now booked my appointment with the tax prep place, for Monday the 14th 😂

i think there was a Seinfeld episode about standing in a long line at the post office trying to mail tax returns before the deadline.
My cousin does my taxes online. They mail out a check, but if you owe them money, better have that check in the mail or they will ding you with penalties and interest.

I took all of my stuff to the accountant on a Monday he filed online and on Friday I got my whopping $30.00 refund. Even if it was $1.00, it's better than paying. The Post Office is so damned slow, I don't trust them to get anything anywhere on time.

It used to take 3 days for a letter or card to go from Florida to California. Now it takes 20 days for a rent check to go from my town to my address in the same town. It gets picked up by the carrier at about 14:00, it's then dropped off at the main Cocoa P.O. Then it goes to Orlando, (40 miles) then returns to Cocoa for sorting, then to my mailbox.

I pay all my bills online too directly to the receiver. I used to use bank bill pay, but they send out a check by mail. If it's late, you have to eat the late fees. Government efficiency is an oxy-moron.
