The Long and Winding Road...

Then how in the heck are you going through Jackson?
Hang a left at Alpine (by K&Js) take US89 up to the south side of Jackson at the traffic circle, then US190 south. It's not quite "Jackson," but everything has a sign on it saying it's Jackson this or that....

Somehow you're still wrong. I don't know how, but you are. :D

Wisconsin Cheese.

:foreheadslap:

Ain't no such animal!

:harumph:

Got a load of Kansas Cheese going to Wisconsin.

Got the last of the cheese 'n stuff off at Baraboo WI. Headed back over to the Petro in Portage for breakfast. Got 54 700 lb blocks of frozen somethin' or other being loaded...

:dunno:

Trees are starting to change into colourful, tall sticks up here...

:eek-64:

FEMA is starting to gear up for Florence. $1000 for loads, $80/day detention. Mostly power only, and a batch of trailers to be dropped. There's 3 more storms forming...

Yep. I have a friend that was getting $300 per day for his trailer last year. Paid it off. We'll see. There's more storms out there - if the rate goes up, I may consider it - then use one of my carrier's trailers to run freight.

@oldhippietommy - how are you guys fixed? Florence seems to be headed in your direction.

way back when Katrina was going on FEMA was paying $1000.00 to 1600.00 a day whether the truck moved or not.
After Katrina things changed dramatically, whether it was the companies screwing the truckers or the government it went down the toilet rather quickly.
FEMA work can be rather hazardous and was paid for accordingly I worked a lot of disaster relief over the years for several reasons, but when they decided truckers lives weren't worth a whole lot I gave it up

we`re inland about 50 miles east of Charlotte so we should be ok except for some wind and rain.
the local wal marts have run out of water I hear.In Raleigh I hear the cars are 7 deep at the gas pumps
I made a lot last year doing fema
got 400-500 a day for trailer detention and a few trailers were kept 65-83 days.I may miss it this year because of the milk project we are on

when Matthew hit Fla we got 700 a day just to sit and babysit a load of water

what a lot of brokers are doing now is offering up Power Only loads
they want you to go get a rental trailer,go get water loads and take it to Ft Bragg(Simmons Air Base) and drop the trailer. That way they collect the trailer detention. One problem is trucks are backed up 8 hours or more at the water plants. You may have 50 trucks in front of ya

Took a week off the road...

:biggrin-2:

Get to my first shipper after a nice little vacation, get loaded, ,go to sign the bills, and... huh??!!! Sez here somethin' about Spokane - I've got two stops in Illinois. Naw, it's not just the bills. Dumbass DHL put the wrong load on my wagon.

:mad-97:

Great way to start off. Late for the first stop.
