Worst 4 Wheeler Colliding with 18 Wheeler Accident Ever

I'm sorry. I think you're misunderstanding the scenario.
Very well possible. Trying to get the picture painted from text.

This is a 2 lane highway... the left lane is clear... I'm in the slow lane behind a big truck, and behind me is another truck... I don't like being sandwiched so I try to pass the truck up ahead of me. I signal left, try to pass on the fastlane but he starts to accelerate 80 mph plus, like he really doesn't want me passing him...
I think he was just rolling out. Letting Gravity work.

coming up soon is this really dangerous curvy, narrow downhill turn... so I slow down, because I don't want to be next to the truck driving side by side at those speeds... and then the truck behind the truck, flashes and it seems like he's giving me space to get back in the slow lane... which I do... and I'm sandwiched between these two trucks as we go flying down the hill...
Honestly I don't know why that driver would flash headlights at that time.

I respect the trucks that are on the road and I try not to drive recklessly.
So your saying you have drove recklessly before?

I do have big tires so it is harder for me to accelerate and zip by a big truck that's going 80 plus (why do trucks drive so fast), so I often slow down so I can go behind the truck. It's just when I try to slow down, the truck slows down to like 60... so I have to actually brake to slow my speed and then I go behind the truck, and darn... he drives so slow... so I try to pass him and the same thing happens, he speeds up to 80 plus... where I don't want to risk passing, so I slow down, he slows down... I move back behind the truck and I'm back to like 60 mph...
Other than Texas and Utah NO other state has an 80mph speed limit. So are you saying you caught up to a truck doing 80? That means you were doing 80 plus.

I drive through TN a lot and there are a lot of 2 lane highways with hills...often I drive late at night and there are nothing but trucks on the road. I honestly feel the trucks going down these hills are out of control when they're literally going over 80 mph. I know when the hills are coming, so I either try to pass or slow down to get behind the truck but the last thing I want to do is be right along side one as we go speeding downhill these dangerous curves.
HELLO!! Its a, in your words "2 lane highway" and you wanna pass these trucks because you know there gonna go down hill at or over 80? Just how damn fast are you driving?
Let me ask you this. Why in the hell would you wanna get in front of, as you say an "out of control" truck going down hill?

I65 SOUTH by Bethel Road...it's steep, curvy, narrow and dangerous. When I get to that point, I don't bother passing, but I try to get around before that hill. I hate being between or around trucks going down there, and they go flying down.
It no more narrow as any other part of I65. Dangerous? LOL
I smell a whole lot of BS in these post.

It's kinda hard to explain in a text-like way, but let me try again...

First of all, I try not to drive recklessly -- but we're not all perfect...except maybe you are. :winking:

Second of all... I don't want to drive 80 MPH plus... this truck up ahead of me is going slow at first, maybe 60 mph...so I try to pass so I can get ahead of him and not be sandwiched but he accelerates to 80 MPH (BEFORE THE DOWNHILL TURN) <-- that is my point

... so I slow down and get back behind the truck before that steep hill.

This part I65 is particularly dangerous because it is a 2 lane highway going down a steep, curvy hill and really no shoulder at all, just a huge stone wall on you left and a hillside on the right.

Also isn't it be better to be in front than sandwiched between two trucks?

A 2 lane highway is one lane going north, one lane going south, with nothing in between them. (or east/west)

I-65 is a divided highway with two or more lanes in each direction.

I know that hill vary well and its not as dangerous as you make it out to be. Mount Eagle is by far more dangerous than that hill on I65. For the one that dont know the road is built wrong at the bottom in the curve. It curves to the right but the baking in the road is to the left.
But I'll play the devils advocate, and say the truck was doing 80, why were you doing 80 also? Agree if the truck was doing 80 at the bottom he is a fool. I cruise off that hill at 70mph but no more than that.

As with most things in life timing is every thing, if it bothers you to drive next to a truck going down the hill stay to the right, they will pass and be out of your life.
And your having trouble passing a truck doing 60 up the incline before the top of the hill? Why?

Also isn't it be better to be in front than sandwiched between two trucks?

Again I ask why would you fill the need to be in front of something that weights up to 80000 pounds going down hill? As to your question, no it would be safer to stay in between the trucks, IF they were doing the speed limit then for you to be in the left lane for a number of reason.

I'm not passing going up the hill... I'm going southbound toward Nashville. I just don't like being sandwiched between two trucks, so that's why I'm passing the truck ahead of me. It seems to be safe to pass so I go for it... but then he speeds up to like 80 or so BEFORE the hill, so I don't want to go racing down that hill, so I slow down and get behind him -- and to me, that scares the hell out of me because I did have a trailer swing into the left lane completely out of control while going down the hill...I almost got hit.

So for me, I hate that hill.

Also isn't it be better to be in front than sandwiched between two trucks?

Going down a hill? Not necessarily. It takes longer for a truck to stop, even on flat ground because of the weight difference. Going downhill adds gravity as another force the driver must fight when stopping. The last thing you need is to have to slow down or stop suddenly and end up with that truck you just accidentally brake-checked in your back seat. Most people driving cars don't realize they're cutting back into the right lane way too soon. The return distance that's okay in front of another car should be tripled in front of a truck.

But if I'm in front of it and I see the truck speeding down out of control, can't I just floor it and get out of his way? I also don't just want to get in front of the truck, I try to get a little further ahead, to keep my distance. I really just don't like the feeling of being sandwiched because if for some reason the truck ahead of me loses control, the truck behind me will slam into me...at least that's what I play out in my head.

So this truck starts off the hill doing 60 and speeds up to 80?

Sorry...this is hard for me to explain on the text...the truck ahead of me is driving kinda slow...you know, like about 60 or so...I try to pass and he speeds up. It could be my imagination but I feel like he's just not letting me pass... and then before you know it, we're coming up close to that down hill part, so I slow down instead of trying to race with him and go back behind him -- the truck behind him flashes and looks like enough space for me to get in. Maybe that flash is not for me, who knows... I have no idea...

If you floor it going down a dangerous hill with sharp curves, wouldn't you increase the risk of rolling your own car? And what are you going to do if you're the one who needs tp stop suddenly and the truck you just passed can't?

If you're not tailgating the truck in front of you, you will have ample time to stop for his emergency. You might be inconvenienced by it, but you and your baby will be alive.

And where ya going if a couple dumb asses are riding side by side in front of you?

He would slam into you if your stopped right in front of him.

If I was as scared of driving with a bunch of cars on the road as you seem to be of trucks.......I'd never drive again. I cannot began to count the number of times cars have cut in front of me and I cant even see the damn tail lights and your worried about being in between 2 trucks? I'll take the trucks every time over following a car, for the most part.

Gosh, I didn't mean to keep this post going... but I just want to make it clear... I try to plan ahead, so I can find some distance between me and the trucks before I hit that hill. So I try to pass where I feel it's safe to, but that's where the driver starts to accelerate, like he doesn't want me to get in front of him. I also don't tailgate, I always leave a distance between the truck in front of me... but it's the truck behind me does, keeps pushing me to go up against the truck ahead of me...

Well I'm having a harder time try to understand.

So then there were 2 trucks going down the hill to fast? How far behind was the second truck from the first one? Was this day time or night? The reason I ask is the flash you got from the second truck might have been an accidental hit of the headlight flasher switch. On these newer trucks its easy to "flash" them and not mean too. I'm guilty of doing that my self.

Whos driving your car? You or the truck driver? Wonder why he didnt pass? If he was tailgating you that bad make note of the carrier name and call the safty department.

sweet violet I thank you for seeking out a truckers forum for information and fielding a few quotes. I hope that would work in some of that information into your story.

Truckers are not a bad bunch, Just a little misunderstood, Is all.
