The top four executives at trucking company Werner Enterprises Inc. will share more than $1 million in cash bonuses.

The Omaha-based company says in documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission it will pay the bonuses on Monday.

Werner's efforts to improve efficiency and offer other services besides trucking have helped the company weather the recession. In the third quarter, Werner reported $22.4 million net income, which was a 3% increase over the previous year.

Yeah, I am sure there are some big wigs at other companies right now wondering how Werner is managing this.
 
LOL, not really, Werner buys all different color trucks now :)

Made it easier for them to sell the trucks once they decided to purchase new ones each year.
 
I just spoke with a driver who works for Werner and he says he is not getting enough miles. His last week's pay was under $400.

Werner has'nt changed since I drove for them almost 2 yrs ago.You don't get the miles because they route you to a terminal then you're stuck there at least 2 days most the time is 3 days.Then when they do give you a good load they always swap it out or you have to drop it at their nearest drop yard.I left because most my checks were less then what the students make.I don't understand why companies say freight is slow then they hire many drivers each week.They should have a hireing freeze and give the drivers that are already there a chance to get the miles.We have bills ,families to support how do they ecspect us to pay the bills if we don't have the pay to do so.I guess we could steal from these ppl that are making triple digit figures since they're stealing from us,the blue collar workers.
 
Let me tell you about werner.A couple months ago,I signed on with werner,went to orientation,3 days,being that I had driven 4 swift right out of school.waited 4 a week in a motel,waiting for a trainer.Finally got one.We drove 4 two weeks,then she had home time coming,put me in another motel 4 -4 days.Started driving again.I let dispatch know I needed a couple days off to re-up my blood pressure meds.7 days notice.finally got a load towards seattle,only to have it taken away,and was ordered to drive east.This is SLC,Utah.I called my SDM,he told me that the load was more important than me,If I did'nt do the load,get off the truck.Werner only has a drop yard in salt lake.I would have been stranded totally if my trainer had not felt bad.She was kind enough to drop me at the airport,so I could rent a car,my expense..
I got off and did'nt go back.Although still limited in experience,3 mos. total,Now Jan.4th I truly would like to find a good NW company,I don't ever want to be treated like that againAny ideas on where to look ,with 3 mos. behind me.
Would appreciate some solid advice. Thanx.
