We gonna loose the sidekit..

We..(well not we BUT Ironman..lol) pull a covered wagon..due to the freight situation we have to park it and lease a flatbed..
Its been 9 years since hubby pulled a flatbed..gonna be harder to tarp..arggg..guess gotto do what you gotto do...:beep:
 

I guess I am gonna be dumb here. But, I thought a covered wagon was a flat bed with a side kit on it? I thought you could just pull the side kit off and use it as a flat bed...I know the flat bed company I pulled for years ago, had side kits on their flat beds, and they would tell you too break it down sometimes for a different load. Anyway, it sucks to have to quit pulling what you are accustomed too, and have to pull something else.
 
You are not dumb..I thought the same thing..hubby says since his trailer is part steel (dorsey) its heavier so if he wants not to be limited to lighter loads he gotto get a alu flatbed..its also wider and longer..

Kinda..sorta..since freight is limited he sometimes has to decline a load..due that its too big or too heavy..the dorsey has a strip of steel in the middle that makes it heavy..reitnours are all aluminium..therefor lighter..lets just say it increases his chance of a load..lol

AWWW, ok...I hope things work out much better for him....
 
well i wish you all the best of luck on that. if i understand correctly he has done flatbad awhile back so it will be like riding a bicycle, it will come back to him. just be careful getting back in the hang of it.

Well he used to drive flatbed for about 6 years and covered wagon now for about 5 years..he was taught and started out on flatbed. I hope its like the bike riding thing..lol

hope it does come back to him. unfortunitly then he can remember why he doesn't do flat bed anymore.
 
Well gotto do what ya gotto do..have to survive somhow..good thing is we can always switch back if it don't work out..just parking the covered wagon in the back..good thing we don't life in cali
 
i know watcha mean ironmanwife my day is havein about the same issue only his is he owns a 08 step REITNOUER and an 02 century and it been hard for he because he didnt move from thanksgiving till the begingin or the year so now he is havein to play catch up and then the brokers and the loads arent playin engough to off set the fuel and house/bussiness bills.so i know how yea feel at the moment hope he got(gets)caught up.
 
I hope it works out for ya, we parked our flat almost a year ago now.
Been pulling a reefer and now our end of the food chain is slowing down.
Load rates are still on a down swing, and we have to keep uping our cargo insurance.
It's starting to hurt, Sure miss the good ol day's......
 
Well..we kept the sidekit..rofl...
He had the trailer inspected by the new company that also said NO sidekits and they approved it..go figure..
 
That's good, we had a side kit a few years back can't find it or remember what we did with it. But he has a habit of lending things he do'nt like to mess with like tarps and things and forgetting to who and never gets them back..........
 
yea so far it's been kinda picking up but it's still slow.Luckly hear shortly he will have his own authority so he can cut out the middle man.and the pay goes stright to him.Witch also opens up some the differant kinda loads he can pull.
