The video shows a man grabbing a smoke and hitching a ride on two separate occasions on two different eighteen wheeler trucks in Gwinnett and in DeKalb County.

”I’ve actually never seen anything like this before, just when you think that people have found the most idiotic things to do someone comes up with, something brand new,” President & CEO Georgia Motor Trucking Association Ed Crowell said.

The video now has the attention of GSP, the Georgia Motor Trucking Association and Trucker Associations across the country.

“I would caution truck drivers once they have done their walk around the vehicle, take a second time around,” Crowell said.

“I showed the video around the office here asking if anyone has ever seen anything like it and no one could think of anything quite like that at all,” Norita Taylor Owned and Operated Independent Trucking Association.

The driver wouldn't know he was there only if he never looked out the window. And by the looks of some of the trailers going down the road, they don't.

I was delivering to a Shell station down on Miami Beach. In order to get there, you had to go and come back through "The Hood". On the return trip one of the savages decided to hitch a ride on the rear ladder of the trailer. Here I was tooling north on I-95 and I was surround by FHP. I pulled over and they all jumped out of their car pointing their weapons at the back of my trailer.

One of the Trooper said to me, 'Do you know how many times you almost lost him weaving in the traffic?' The idiot came down off of the ladder yelling, 'Dat mudda fuckah crazy man. He be drivin like a crazy man'.

This was about 35 years ago. He probably thought he was going to hitch a ride to the next corner. Timing the lights, I never had to stop all the way back to the entrance ramp. He wasn't about to jump off doing 30mph. I was laughing my ass off!

Cool story but you didn't respond to the question I asked.

Surely you would notice the hand on the mirror arm or see them in the hood mirrors. (Ha,ha, giving Hood mirrors a new meaning) the problem is many drivers do not look in their mirrors.
But what can you do about some hood rat hanging on to your truck? Well, if you got a narrow cab Pete or KW you could kick the passenger door open.
What can you do? Do you really want to stop and confront this guy? Not really! Why do the cops blame the driver?

That's why you don't pull it unless you intend to use it. If he sees it, then goes to pull a gun, pop....
Ok so now you are in more trouble for killing a man than you are for having a man taking a ride on the side of your truck.
Just curious, what would be the legal justification for shooting a rider?

He wasn't a rider, he had a gun and was trying to get into my truck. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Why would you automatically assume that the driver doesn't know he's there?
Sorry for the delayed response.

Instinctively, I assumed a commercial driver wouldn’t be that irresponsible with their license. But after thinking about it, maybe there is some careless schmucks that would do something like that.

have you not figured out yet that drivers are the blame for everything :confused-96: wich is complete BS

I'm not implying that the driver allowed it to happen in the "sure, hop on" sense.

Most likely these guys are hopping on while the truck is already in a slow roll. Like bums and trains. Driver sees it but what's he gonna do? Stop and kindly ask them to get off? You don't know whether these people are violent or not. Should the driver shake them off with the truck? Then he gets blamed for any harm that comes to the bum.

It's kind of a no-win unless you're lucky and hit a deep pothole.
