There is a bit of this in Minnesota also. At the Clearwater rest area westbound just past rhe Petro there was a little ice fishing shack with a small SUV, and a generator for about three weeks. It's finally gone now. It was on the truck parking side right at the end.

Often in the Minnesota rest areas I see what looks to be people living in vehicles.

Really not a big deal, considering Washington probably has the most plentiful truck parking of any State in the United States.

Sucks that rather than move the people, they choose to simply shut down the rest areas.

Homeless people are taking up residence everywhere at this point. It's not a big liberal city problem anymore, it is nationwide, rural areas included.

Amarillo, TX: Two rows of Walmart's parking lot is people living in their cars, or permanently parked run-down RV's.

Kingman, AZ: Flying J employee living in a trashed out RV in the truck parking area.

Lowell, AR: This is right by my house. People took up residence at Workmans's Travel Center sometime early in August, or maybe even July. They have been there since. Pisses me off, because they took the shaded end parking spot, which I felt was basically my designated parking spot up until that point. I have been tempted to inquire inside about it, but afraid it might end up being someone the people know. The folks who run Workmans travel centers probably wouldn't say no to anyone in need.

Can't remember the city off the top of my head, but it's on 99 in Cali. There is a Pilot and Love's truck stop, and under the trees at the exit there are multiple tents, and there are people that work at the truck stop fast food places living in them. I literally watched them come out fully dressed and go inside to work.

Just about anywhere you go, you don't have to look too hard to find homeless people living in a parking lot.

Been a lot of folks giving up renting/ homeownership and getting travel trailers.

Disappointed but not shocked to hear this. This has been going on for some time. About a month and a half ago I stopped at the Everett rest area and hardly got parked because of all the new residents. They truly settled in there.

I went in to the restroom and a fellow was in there smoking up. (It wasn’t pot).

Got a feeling we’ll see a similar story soon from Oregon State as these folks move down that way.

With the cold coming to the northern states, Florida becomes the state of choice for the eastern seaboard homeless. I drive by the same rest areas every night and see the same campers and tents for weeks on end. Even after 50 days off, I drive by and the same ones are still there.

Like @Mike noted, people living in tents and then going to work in the fast food joints. One of the many reasons I don't eat anywhere but home. I wonder when the last time they bathed was.
