Want to get into trucking

Im 20 years old and just quit a job as a correctional officer. I am not yet old enough to get my CDL A licens is there anything that i could do to prepare myself or to get ready before i turn 21. I also hear alot of bad things about cr england but i figure if i could work for them a year id have some experiance and maybe get a better offer and learn a few thing whats your inputs.

Larry honey, if your going to give out information it should be more accurate....
Container haulers ARE getting $1.00 per mile...It really depends on WHAT type of job you are doing when it comes to trucking...When you haul for someone like Landstar you get paid one way and you do alot of dead heading...When you haul containers you get paid there and back so there are no dead head miles...

Yeah I know my dad pulls containers, but I was talking about general freight.
 
They r offering grants which cover the cost of school and then some.
Get your A but for now try to get a local job with a dump/mini wheeler class b.
Most have tractor/trailers and maybe you can pick up time there.
Insurance will be a problem for you. So don't waste your time with the o/o thing right now. Put your time in learn the ropes.
 
if i may u seem like abright indevidual i d go to school but if this is realy what u want 2 do go for it as far as being an o/o id wait 2 yrs get a feel for it. don t be fooled alot of o/o s make as much as acompany driver in the end despite what they may tell u. learn the businnes then decide just ny opinion u know what thaey say about opinions
