My question is, are you allowed to leave the truck long enough to go to a movie? As in, what is the actual policy toward this. Obviously, if it is me, and i wanted to do this, I would simply go and they would be none the wiser about it unless another driver ratted me out somehow.

So would I, I don’t run for them obviously but I’d have to assume some breaks are longer than 10 hours and I’d get bored. At the crane company we used to get $30 for every day we stayed out but they didn’t try to control us.

With Walmart, from talking to @Sinister, I doubt you have many breaks that exceed 10 hours. These guys basically get 70 hours out of you every week, so not much extra downtime at all.

@Sinister do they require you to have any apps on your phone? Or provide you with a phone they pay the service on? If so, you're most likely being tracked by some computer in Bentonville that automatically rats you out if you get more than a certain distance from the truck.

The technology exists and they seem petty enough to do it.

I understand humor, it’s just hard to tell on a forum. The cost of the Uber and the movie would obviously vary but $75 would be real high. However the cost of the movie and Uber are irrelevant, it’s about the control not the activity. You might have family in the area that would pick you up babe feed you, then you’d be ahead $75

They cannot require us to put anything on a personal device. I’m sure the Walmart App is just as spyware as Facebook of anything else. We can adjust most of our daily activity through our phones now too. I can imagine in an incident requiring submission of cell phone records, they’re certainly going to check your logs against any log ins on the payroll portal.
