A series of personnel shakeups will reshuffle the makeup of various federal agencies tasked with regulating trucking and transportation.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will get a new deputy administrator in Alan Hanson, who previously served as one of two deputy chiefs of staff at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Hanson will replace Cathy Gautreaux, who is expected to take a post as a senior adviser with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a DOT representative confirmed for Land Line on Thursday.
Hanson had been serving as a DOT deputy chief of staff since last July. Before that, he worked as acting assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice in the Office of Justice Programs. He previously served as the general counsel, chief of staff and legislative director for U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., as well as the legislative director for then-U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., and former U.S. Rep. Anne Northup, R-Ky. He also served as deputy of staff and chief counsel for former U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Ala.
