GALVESTON - A Galveston County grand jury has indicted a Texas City truck driver on manslaughter charges in the death of an 11-year-old girl run down while waiting for a school bus, District Attorney Jack Roady said Friday.

Hector A. Pena, 45, is accused of recklessly causing the death of Christina Marie Lopez by striking her with his semi-tractor truck in the 2900 block of 26th Street in Texas City on Sept. 24.

The grand jury returned the indictment Thursday. Pena is free on $50,000 bond

$50K bond for a little girl's death. Galveston isn't too awfully far from the border.

What are the odds?
