What was Boomtown Verdi Nev. Called first in 1968

As far back as I can remember it was always called:
"Boomtown Casino & Hotel Reno". Somewhere along the line I believe it was called "Boomtown Truckstop & Casino" but I can't recall the years. I think it originally opened in '64. Cabelas added their store and their addition to it in '07 I believe. :headscratch2:

Yeah Surfer, That was "Gay Johnsons" and the last I heard was he had a major lawsuit about food poisoning and had some other legal problems. Not sure about the exact cause of demise. Didn't follow up with it..... But it was definitely Gay Johnsons Trk Stop.....Spent many a cold, snowy night there sitting in front of the big stone fireplace with a cold beer. I believe he used to pay the state to close the gates on I-80 just to boost his business for 3-4 days at a time

Hell yea...someone else who knows about the big stone fireplace AND the ability to drink a beer while enjoying the fire. Kinda makes me wonder if we ever got stuck there at the same time (and drank a beer shooting the shit.)
Well you're right about the legal problems, but the actual demise was another fire burnt the place to the ground. All the driver's I knew believed it wasn't an accident that time.

Anyone remember this fuel stop, and where it was? There used to be a little restaurant next store that served the Best Liver-n-Onions in the world....
Puts me in mind of Carl's corner, I've seen tanks like that there, but I am not sure.

Someone else will have to get this one. Sorry Joe, never hung out in northern Cali that much.

I'm pretty sure it's Panty Hose Junction which was in Dunnigan. Way, Way back this place earned that name.
