So I have had issues the last couple summers with the apu getting a thermal shut down during really hot days. Talking 90°+ days on the apu. When I'd open the access panel to let the heat out, seems to run no issues.
Took this week off to work on the dwindling punch list of work to do on the truck. Had some family things to do mid-week so it was time.
What I found...
The system has a 15 amp fuse that was blown.
Testing the fan, it had a 18-21 amp start-up draw and a 5.6-5.8 amp running draw. Only spec given is 6.6-6.8 amp running draw. Seeing its protected by a 15 amp fuse, I'd say its a high draw for start.
Like typical thermo-king fashion, it's a $250ish dollar part.
This is a direct OEM replacement. Same part you'd get if you went to thermoking. Its just $91 instead.
