Can someone explain to me how this is possible to do legally with an ELD or is this why Amazon has drivers running 80mph?

Depart Hagerstown MD 00:30 2/15/22

Arrive Jupiter FL 23:00 2/15/22

1059 miles point to point.

Listed as a solo load, not team.

They made a mistake there in the posting. Less than 50mph for a team.
I took notice after posting they added another similar one but as a team, with about 50 less miles on it.

So yeah. Should have been a team load. I usually didn't pay attention to the longer stuff like that.

I'm not going to get into how the rate wasn't really enough for a team though. It was priced solo but with inadequate time. Split that pay between two drivers and it's complete BS.

They pulled it and reposted it as a solo with 2 days to get it there. Makes more sense that way.

I was tempted to run it but I still can't talk myself into hotels yet. Despite being slim pickins around here.

I just don't have that OTR bone.

Hotels are just priced out of line right now. The dumps are getting $200 a night. At least down here they are like that. Not being much of a traveler I only stay overnight if forced to. I had to go see my brother down in the Ft. Lauderdale area this weekend. Looking for a room, I almost canceled, I was so price shocked.

I saw one that would suffice for $63 on Priceline. Not talking about vacation resorts though, just a little bed in a random town.

It's probably just Florida winter pricing to gouge the tourists.
Back in Nov., a downtown 15th story room was $275. Last week the same room was $499. This per night, not for the week! I ended up in some Hodgie run dump in Deerfield Beach for $129. The only thing I can good about it was the bed was comfortable.

It seems the 'in' thing to do these days is for the local 'Julios' to rent a hotel room and invite all of their friends and set up a huge BBQ by the pool and cart in these massive speakers to blast their hoochie-coochie noise till late at night. This is the 3rd time I've come across this. Only on Friday and Saturday nights.

I hate traveling. People are rude and have no respect for anyone or anything.

Houses beat hotels sometimes.

We are headed to Florida this week, and will be staying a few nights here

But for just me, for 2 nights, houses aren't all that plentiful for rent. Enjoy your time at the Mouse House. What you save in hotel fees will surely be spent at the theme parks. Figure $1000/day for a family of four. All that is about 40 miles from me and I won't go near the place.

No theme park planned, we are there for a gymnastics meet. After that, we are headed to the beach for a day. Probably driving to Clearwater.

I just look for something cheap and not overly ghetto to see if I could satisfy HoS and not get robbed. It's not necessarily at the destination. I'd have to stop part way down then stop again part way back.

Occasionally I'll run the same deal on something to, say, Michigan to see if it would work.

Haven't been motivated enough to actually do it yet. I don't really want to shut the truck off "overnight" when we keep having cold snaps either. Eg I was working in 5° temps in the early morning yesterday.

I also usually end up finding something that doesn't necessarily gross a truck stop counter number but nets enough to be satisfied without a lot of time or hassle involved.

I'd be more inclined to run some distances if the weather was nice and I was more likely to find a backhaul.

Clearwater beaches are beautiful. Crystal white sands. SpaceX has a launch planned for the 20th @ 09:54. Like all the rest, no promises though. You should be able to see it no problem if you are still in Orlando. Look pretty much due East.

Thanks, gonna have to look for it.

Now that would be something to see!

When I was down there in the 80's there was no shuttle launch at that time but you could walk right out on the track to the the launch pad. Can you still do that after 9-11?

I drove the crawler. It was a slow day. I would have taken a picture but this was before selfies were invented.
