Ain't nothing wrong with Invent-A-Spot™ users as long as they're not blocking anyone.
Just the fact that guys have to invent a space is proof there needs to be more legitimate spots available.

Just the fact that guys have to invent a space is proof there needs to be more legitimate spots available.
Except they invent sports while spots are still available, and far too often end up blocking spaces that come available later as people leave.
We do need more parking availability, but I can see removing those who park like idiots and block other spots.
I will address this in my first 100 days if elected...

Or, just spend all that money making more parking, as has been mentioned. Curing the symptom, not the cause.

Yeah but no matter how much parking there is it won't really be enough. It always gets filled. You gotta optimize it so spaces aren't wasted.
As much as I hate everything about Indiana roads, every state should take a lesson from them when it comes to truck parking.
Every state could create massive truck parking areas like they did.
Are you going to have one in the middle of the major cities? No. Relatively short drives to delivery shouldn’t be a big deal though as long as you have a place to park.
To be honest, parking is typically the least of my concerns out here. Most of that is due to me being able to schedule my own loads, preventing me from having to drive late and into areas where parking always sucks. I realize it is a major concern for others though.

At ten, eleven, noon, etc you see a lot of trucks parked in stupid locations because when they arrived at 2AM, that's the only spot where they could shut down. Everyone who had arrived early enough to get a legitimate parking spot has already left.
If that were the case, that would be fine. But it’s not. People come in and park anywhere that is convenient to them while the lots are nearly empty.
Couple nights ago, rest area entering Indiana on 70 east. I pull in an park. More than half the spots are still open. 45 minutes later, there were three trucks parked on the curb behind me with the curtains pulled. Now, as people beside me leave, there is no room to get into those spaces.
Happens all the time, trucks need to be towed for it. So much lack of courtesy out here that it disgusts me these days.
that's right, i was one of the original, "teamsters", as we were known way back then.
This thread brings back a memory of a time when hundreds of trucks would be scattered across the deserts of California. Almost always safely parked well off the shoulder, and the littering wasn't as big a problem as it is now.
It's a guaranteed ticket to park in those spots nowadays.
And there was always the humor of the idiots who thought they could drive through deep loose sand. Across the bridge from Rip-off's in Barstow was a prime place for that. Seen more than a few trucks sitting on the frame there.

That was one of the nice things about running to Califonia and bringing produce back every week. There was literally no limit to the number of places you could pull off and go to sleep. Still pretty parking friendly out west on 10, but not like it used to be
