Tornado hits downtown Nashville overnight, flooding in Mississippi

A late winter storm is hitting the Southeast, with a tornado causing severe damage to downtown Nashville overnight. Flooding has swamped neighborhoods in Mississippi. More sever weather is expected today and tomorrow across the Southeast. At least 8 are dead in Nashville from the storm last night.

8 Dead in Nashville

The Five Points neighborhood mentioned, is just east of the TA. From Google maps, I24 in the downtown area appears to be impacted.

I got a message from TN dot and the os/ow permit department is closed and they urge no travel around metro Nashville until further notice

I was just under 100 miles from Nashville and the storms were pretty serious overnight where I was as well. Not much sleep for sure.

No, I’m 40 to 75, an I ordered permit last week.

I live about an hour southeast of Nashville. It is pretty bad from what friends are telling me. I'm currently in Macon Ga. I 40 was shut down in the Nashville area. It is probably re opened by now. I would still avoid the area for a few days if possible.

I figure I will give it til about April before doing anything that requires me to run through there.
