Their recruiters CARE.

Back when custom choppers were all over TV and bumper stickers and everyplace I remember an ad for Marten Transport out of Mondovi. It had Randy Marten standing in front of a custom chopper that was built for him by Orange County Choppers.

I don't recall what the ad said because my mind goes blank thinking as to why they thought that would draw drivers in.

Most recruiting ads draw an eye roll from anyone with more than 8 minutes experience anyway but throughout history there have been some that really make me say, "WTF, over?"

Here's another one.

Makes me wanna give it a Tri.

I don't understand how they think using a recruiter in an ad translates to a decent driving job.

Maybe it's the best job in the history of jobs. Who knows.

But this ad is so stupid that any driver that falls for it can only be equally stupid.

So what caliber of driver are they actually aiming for?

Are they AWARE of the flotsam and jetsam that's going to wander through the door announced by minor tremors in the earth and its odor long before it even arrives?

I am on indeed all the time looking at the drivers wanted ads.
If you are with a half way decent company not much changes but the name on the door.
Not many of the can top what I m getting right now to make me want to change door names.

One interesting thing that some companies boast about is....Free Onsight parking. Really? Free parking? Really scrapping the bottom to come up with perks for working for your company.

I remember back in the day Werner Enterprises doors of every trailer said no more Paper Logs Books.

Innovators in Paper-Less Logs since 1999 or whatever year and the Recruiting Number

Still seeing those around sometimes. Pioneers..... more like they got kicked in the nuts with them to stay afloat because they were such fuck ups.

The fact that it's even possible to charge people to park there.

...and the hubris in thinking people would still drive for you...

That one really boggles the mind.

It should have read, to keep our running rights and get any kind of insurance you will need to be on electronic logs 20 years before everyone else. Just to be accurate.

- Company BBQs.
Yes they have company BBQs and you will most likely never be in the yard to ever see one.
The Office staff are literally eating your lunch!

Sometimes for a laugh when taking a dump at the Truckstop I'd grab one of those recruitment ad magazines outta the tv lounge and page through the Bullcrap.

Unfortunately to be honest with ya I myself have "Fell" for afew of em and went to work there yup I cannot Lie to ya

They're not all garbage. I'm really talking about the mist ludicrous ones.

I wrote an article about recruiting ads when I did the Impure Thoughts series but @Mike seems to have scrubbed them. 🙄

Oh I made it a point to roll through Woodhaven last week of every month during nice weather.

I remember the yard manager go around and introduce himself to random driver asking what can we maybe do better.

He even looked driver in the eye "pretended" to care and shook your hand...note this was way "Pre-Covid19" days.
