Route 66 is one of the most iconic highways in American history, with a rich legacy that’s intertwined with the trucking industry. Over the years, its role has shifted as modern highways emerged, but for many truckers, it still represents a historic and scenic route. Have you driven on Route 66? How does it compare to modern highways, and what memories or challenges have you faced on this legendary road?

On my livestreams, I occasionally exit off interstate 40 through towns in New Mexico and run down the original route 66 that goes through the towns.

For those that have an interest in the history, sooner than later would be the best advice I could give as to visiting as much of the old route as possible, as it is rapidly deteriorating. Either being replaced with new buildings, or just deteriorating to ruins in some areas.

Have you been to Radiator Springs?
 
I'd like to but I never get out that way. I run rout 11 when I can for similar reasons though, even if it takes forever compared to being a robot on I-81.
 
I have been along some parts of the old route 66. I would see the signs historic route 66 and knew the history.
My Uncle would say get your kicks on route 66, I guess that was a slogan at some time.
No, it is not a place to get footwear as the kids these days call shoes "kicks".
 
It was on Route 66 between Chicago & St Louis that "Dave Dudly" got an Eye "Smile" for the "Girl" on the Billboard Signs..

I once asked an "Old Timer" at a Bar what a "Jimmy" Was..

He said "GMC" used make a "Cabover" Truck way back in the day..


 
Did ya know before GPS ,"I-Phones" , even before Background Checks , DRUG Testing the "Music" was "Cool" & people just Drove Trucks too..

"Never made a Dollar because I couldnt even find a stinking dime"



 
My "Problem" is that I need a "Nap"..

E-Logs aint "Conducive" this day my needs.

Even with Donald Trump "Covid" he only "Split-Sleeper"..

Nothing on "E-Logs" remained the "Same" mostly just 2020 Law made a mere "Stop" after 2 Hours.

Now @Mike I know ya "Hate" me someways..

Though we actually "Do Agree" the other half.

Trucking is not a "Shift" or "Time Clock" kinda Job .

A "Driver" also needs "Flexibility"
