The DEF blues.

So, after over nine weeks sitting at Rush Peterbilt in Denver, and having to involve Paccar North America, my assigned 389 with the ISX has been released. We think that because the truck was not purchased there we went to the back of the line ahead of locals who did buy there. This DEF joke needs to go away. The largely suspicious benefits do not outweigh the problems and costs of the downtime.

My '07 Dodge 2500 diesel doesn't have DEF and the stainless steel tailpipe is clean as a whistle. So no clouds of black smoke. That comes when you delete all the power and mileage robbing extras.

Did that on mine about 40K miles ago. Best move I ever made. I like how my mpg went up about 30% right off the bat

The only drawback is no legit shop and certainly no dealer will touch it. Big sign at Rush Peterbilt at the service desk: If any modifications to the emissions system are found all work will stop and any removed parts will be reinstalled and customer will be charged for all time and labor involved.

If it's under warranty, don't touch it. If it's out of warranty, don't touch the dealership.
