Signed Up With Amazon Relay This Week

Running into a BS issue with Amazon. I went against my usual instinct and booked a load down and load back, because the pay for all miles is better than the normal split.

They canceled the load down but left the load back, at half the rate. IOW it splits the fee into territory that I would never have booked as a one way trip.

I submitted a support ticket and told them I can't do the load for half the original price. We'll see what their response is. It's for later this evening. It's a dick move on their part to cancel half the trip and have you deadhead for half price.

Okay well Kudos to Amazon for not trying to force me to run the second half. They canceled both ways, so it doesn't hurt my rating. If I rejected it myself, it would ding my score.

It frees me up to watch the boards again for something else.

For the record they do have good, fast carrier support by phone. You submit a callback request and they get you quick. It's rare to get someone who isn't Indian/Pakistan or whatever but they do know what they're doing within their job description.

I'm not seeing near as much one way freight as I did before the new year. Either they caught onto me, the wave is over, or I'm napping too much and missing out.

Booked something similar for 1:15am going to the same place as before, picking up a little south but basically on the way, so the same mileage. Also returns with a load. Pays better than the original deal if it doesn't cancel again.

I'm 0 for 3 on round trips. First one cancelled improperly so I didn't even get my TONU. Second one canceled while I was still at the house. Third one canceled like the first one except this time I didn't move off the property until it was canceled properly and I got the TONU.

The jockey had the manager come out after I refused to leave to kick me off the property. Turned out to be the same guy we joked around back in 2019 about selling shit from a Schneider container nobody wanted. He was a guard back then. He remembered me and more about that conversation than I even did. He hung out with me outside and froze his ass off with his laptop until the load was properly closed out, then I left.

I'm going to stick with my original one way thing and if that wave is actually over, hit DAT again and wait on money. It's difficult to get off that same week direct deposit thing though. It's like being leased on. But when the rates suck it's not sustainable.

Heading to Illinois later on today to deliver tomorrow, probably see what they have available on their relay board.

Especially since I’m still boycotting JB Hunt 360

I noticed the rates in some areas are wicked good. You might be able to snag something sweet with your ability to roam.

Just make sure whatever you book, you can definitely 100% without a doubt get to the pickup and delivery on time. There is zero grace period.

Nothing was there when I looked that would work for me as I need to stay close to home this week. Long loads were going to Washington, but the pay was well below market rate and well below what it would take for me to go that direction.

My definition of wicked good might be low but I didn't see anything today either so I stayed home and started to catch up on housework.

Some of the crap I saw was below 2 bucks. That's lower than my XPO threshold to determine worthwhile. I don't know what the market rates are though.
