RoadCheck 2022 takes place this year May 17-19. The primary focus during inspections will be wheel ends.

Of course, focusing on wheel ends gets them right in the area of tires, brakes, and those pesky air lines under the trailer.

Once again, TA/Petro locations will be performing free mid-trip inspections to help make you aware of potential issues.



Plan your vacations accordingly folks!

And yes, we all know your equipment should be properly maintained, but nothing fun about being caught up in one of these publicity stunt operations.

PA state DoT got way nicer pickups than they need. Rolling around in high dollar F250s just to check slack adjusters.

They could do their jobs with Chevy Sonics.

I just put new shocks on today…

Even put my hub caps back on just where they were with new dents in them.

I noticed I need to get on the fleetpride website and order myself a set of drums and shoes for the drives.

Ended up doing a reset in the middle of Roadcheck, so missing out on one day of it.

As for Tuesday....

So far, California (interstate 8) seemed about normal. You have to cross the weigh station going in because it is your only way out from the agriculture inspection station. One truck was being inspected, but no crowd of DOT.

Leaving California and heading back into Arizona, there was a westbound truck pulled over by an Arizona officer (in California). Officer was pissed, and as expected, they had the westbound Arizona scale open for Roadcheck, so this guy was the victim of the chase car when he decided to run it. Eastbound scale was open, and signs were up for drivers to park and bring in paperwork. parking area was coned off. I got a green light, so no issues there.

Rest Area/Weigh Stations on 17 between Phoenix and Flagstaff were both filled with DOT. They had parking spaces coned off for their blitz party. They were busy as I arrived, so no signs directing me in, so I pulled in to take a 30 minute break. One officer turned and started walking toward me as I was entering the parking area, but I just looked straight ahead in order to not make eye contact just in case he wanted to nab me. Drove down to the last couple spots, parked, and took the dog for a walk.

From there to Flagstaff, a couple trucks were pulled over on the shoulder for inspections. Watched one get turned loose only to have the cop take off and grab another one immediately.

I was only going to have 4 hours to run today, and trying to run on my recap was going to put me really close to having hours to make delivery by Friday in Missouri, so I opted to park it in Holbrook for a 34. This will also allow me to stop tomorrow before entering Oklahoma and waiting til Friday to cross that disaster of a weigh station if they are partying too hard out there on Thursday.

Hoping for the best entering New Mexico in the morning.

I like it much better when they conduct inspections in the rest areas during the hotter months in the summer.
Nothing makes me happier than to see a DOT officer rolling around on a creeper on urine soaked asphalt on a hot summers day.

I bobtailed 140 miles down to a customer in Virginia and brought an empty back.

I got a green light through the south bound scale but felt like I had a target on my back with the janky rail chassis coming home so I bypassed it altogether.

It sucks pulling old crap.

I'm not doing anything tomorrow I don't think, and definitely not doing anything this weekend.

That's like a week's wages at the outfits you usually run for. They must figure the odds of you passing are low.
